Sky reporting that VAR.... 13:04 - May 16 with 1112 viewsBloots

....is likely to remain next season as it is.

Unlikely to get enough votes to bin it.

Suck it up kids!

Enduringly lovable, intelligent and thunderingly exquisite.

I’m sure there’s been 14+ clubs moan about it enough this season!

Must be more too it, back handers from the PL to keep it.

...I think it needs to stay.

From an entirely selfish/ITFC position we are really going to struggle to get any tight decisions against bigger clubs next season without it.

It needs fixing obviously, speed is the biggest issue, but without it I think we may lose out.

Sue me.

I think with the semi-automated offsides they'll want to have an opportunity to change/improve things rather than bin it.

Yeah I get that, but then without we might some luck, it’s all swings and roundabouts. Wouldn’t say I’m totally against it but it needs some tweaks and changes.

I think had we had VAR this season we’d have won the league though!

I saw something today that said 82% of key decisions were correct prior to VAR and now it is 96%.

I agree, it helps but it's implementation can be significantly improved.

Semi-automated offsides will hopefully remove a lot of the delay.

Also a good reminder that when aggrieved fans are ranting at the “premier league” there is no separate entity of suits making decisions to annoy fans. The league is the clubs.

Based on the measure of who though? Presumably the PGMOL marking their own homework?

Indeed. And at what cost? The quest for perfection means four minute wait for decisions and all the spontaneous joy sucked out of the game. Use tech for offsides and goal line decisions only.

I did have to smile at the prospect of Ashton being welcomed to his first Premier League meeting as Town CEO and one of the first things he has to do is cast a vote on VAR. I mean just ease yourself in, Mark.

None of the clubs who vote to keep it are allowed to moan about it next season then.

Of course it'll stay... it'll probably be a secret vote which conveniently will be revealed the majority want to move ahead with technology.
Two much money has been spent on it and a lot of egg on faces if it was scrapped.. not that I'm cynical of course

Evidence suggests that VAR does help the smaller clubs rather than bigger ones.

i guess it depends which clubs you class as big clubs and which you don't. But according to my meaasure the big clubs get a net effect of +3 decisions overturned in their fsvour, and the rest of the league has a net effect of +3 decisions overturned in their favour too.

Poor old Wolves have suffered though.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.
