Chris Rand rounds up a few stats about big wins in the club's history.

Last night I seemed to be tweeting about new records all night. So here's the final score. It's the tenth league victory by six or more goals in the club's history. It's only the third away league victory by six or more goals in the club's history, and the first since Swindon in 1999.

It's only the tenth time in the club's league history that we've had a three-goal lead away at half-time, again the first time since Swindon in 1999.

It's the 19th hat-trick by a Town player in an away league match, and the first since Darren Bent at Walsall in 2004.

Town have won league matches by seven goals on three occasions:

07/11/1964 Ipswich 7 Portsmouth 0 (HT 4-0) League (Second Tier) Attendance: 12,356 Joe Broadfoot (1) + Gerard Baker (1) + Frank Brogan (3) + Danny Hegan (2) Manager: Bill McGarry

02/02/1974 Ipswich 7 Southampton 0 (HT 2-0) League (First Tier) 20,046 Mick Mills (1) + Kevin Beattie (1) + Bryan Hamilton (2) + Trevor Whymark (2) + Mick Lambert (1) Manager: Bobby Robson

06/11/1976 Ipswich 7 West Bromwich Albion 0 (HT 2-0) League (First Tier) 25,373 Kevin Beattie (1) + John Wark (1) + Trevor Whymark (4) + Paul Mariner (1) Manager: Bobby Robson

...and Town have won by six goals on six (now seven) occasions...

15/12/1956 Ipswich 6 Torquay United 0 (HT 4-0) League (Third Tier) 12,783 John Elsworthy (1) + Jimmy Leadbetter (1) + Vic Snell (1) + Tom Garneys (1) + Ted Phillips (2) Manager: Alf Ramsey

01/03/1980 Ipswich 6 Manchester United 0 (HT 3-0) I'll repeat, that's Ipswich 6 (six) Manchester United 0 League (First Tier) 30,120 Frans Thijssen (1) + Paul Mariner (3) + Alan Brazil (2) Manager: Bobby Robson

25/09/1982 Notts County 0 Ipswich 6 (HT 0-2) League (First Tier) 8,454 Frans Thijssen (1) + John Wark (1) + Steve McCall (1) + Paul Mariner (2) + Alan Brazil (1) Manager: Bobby Ferguson

03/04/1999 Swindon Town 0 Ipswich 6 (HT 0-4) League (2nd Tier) 10,337 Fabian Wilnis (1) + James Scowcroft (1) + Jamie Clapham (1) + Mark Venus (2) + Tony Mowbray (1) Manager: George Burley

12/03/2005 Ipswich 6 Nottingham Forest 0 (HT 2-0) League (Second Tier) 25,765 Richard Naylor (1) + Ian Westlake (1) + Tommy Miller (2) + Shefki Kuqi (1) + Darren Bent (1) Manager: Joe Royle

10/11/2007 Ipswich 6 Bristol City 0 (HT 2-0) League (second Tier) 22,020 David Wright (1) + Jon Walters (3) + Pablo Couñago (1) + Tommy Miller (1) Manager: Jim Magilton

All of these nine matches were on a Saturday. The club has never won by more than five goals on a Tuesday before, and never by more than four away on a Tuesday; in fact, Town have only managed to win away by four goals on a Tuesday once (1988, 1-5 at Shrewsbury).

If you've got any more interesting facts, let's hear them!

Didn't we beat Hull 5-1 away from home when Franny Jeffers was playing for us? Or was that 5-2?

Great stuff Chris. I have a question - our record victory was 10-0 vs Floriana in the European Cup in 1962 wasn't it - do I assume from the above that we have never won by an eight or nine goal margin then?

In the 6-0 win against Man Utd Gary Bailey (son of Roy - ex Town keeper for Sir Alf's champions) saved 3 penalties, although 1 was a re-taken pen. It could've been 8 - 0 !!

ITFC_Forever: We did indeed win 2-5 at Hull in March 2007. It was only 2-1 at half time, so it doesn't trouble any of the stats here.

CleverTrevor: We've never scored more than 7 in the league, to which all these stats refer. We've had a 10 and an 8 in European competitions, and 10s, 13s and even a 15 in friendlies. In the FA Cup there was a 7-0 in 1938, and 6-1 victories in both 1978 and 1979. We've had a 6-1 and a couple of 5-0s in the League Cup.

Ok - ta for clarifying.

What about thrashings against us?! We've had one already in 2011 that would qualify!

It would be ace to see comparisons between the 6-0's, as in runs off the back of it etc. Not that i want to get you working too hard
