The Next Three - Part One
Written by Ipswichlove on Monday, 15th Dec 2014 21:34

I will be writing on Town's next three games at a time this season. I will be analysing the game and will be talking about how Town will feel about it.

The Next Three

20th Dec Middlesbrough (H)

26th Dec Brentford (A)

29th Dec Charlton (H)

Our next three games are tricky games, against good and solid opposition. This will be a challenge for Town especially Boro and Brentford.

Two out of the three games are at home, this is a real boost, because as you well now, Town's home form this season, has been excellent.

We have made Portman Road a fortress for visiting opposition and I do really believe if we can keep picking up the majority of our points at home, and a few wins here and there on our travels, I really believe we could achieve something this season, achieve something big.

Middlesbrough (H)

This will be a big test for Town, if not the biggest of the season. This will show us how far we have really come as a side in the last few weeks and months.

Middlesbrough are a solid defensive unit who haven't let in many goals at the back so it will be a challenge for our strikers to see if they can grab a goal or two. For me, I believe Middlesbrough will go up this season, but I also believe we definitely have the capability to as well.

I think Mick will be going out there for the three points, as per usual. However in saying that I don't believe a point against a well set-out Middlesbrough side would be a bad result at all.

In my opinion, if we all get behind Town and roar them on, we have a good chance of winning this important game. I think one goal could win this, and I have a feeling that goal could be Town's.

Brentford (A)

The Boxing Day thriller! This is another difficult game for the Blues. Brentford have really started to hit form recently, winning five from five games in November.

It's away from home so like Mick McCarthy said ''No away point is a bad one'' and I totally agree with him on that. Brentford have being playing some good football and have been pulling off some great results against some good teams in a very very tight division.

Mark Warburton really has them playing and I think Brentford could definitely be fighting for a play-off place near the end of the season. I'm not quite sure which way this one will go, I'm going to sit on the fence and go for the tight and scrappy 1-1 draw.

Charlton (H)

Make no Illusions, this is a very hard game to play, against a good Charlton side. Charlton will be up for it as we were the first team to beat them at home this year.

We played well but in my opinion were a little fortunate to take all three points back to Suffolk. As of course at home three points will definitely be the target but a point is not a disaster by any means.

Charlton have surprised lots of people this year with where they are currently sitting in the table. Lots of people, including myself, had them down for relegation but they have proved me, and lots of others wrong.

I'm not sure about this one to be brutally honest, this could definitely be a banana skin, where we lose concentration and we lose 0-1. Although in saying that, if Town play like we know they are capable of playing, I see no reason why we cant win this game comfortable.

Hope you enjoyed the read.

Good stuff pal - cannot see us getting anything less than 7 points from these 3 - which for me, will re-iterate the good form that we are in.

I think 5 or more points from the next three games would be a good return in the bigger picture. Derby at home to follow and then a 'nice' set of fixtures to the end of Feb, culminating in that lot up the road...
