A story I heard at the weekend, which just about sums up things currently with our owners and makes our transfer activity seem logical goes as follows..
We had a company called Lindley caterers who rented space at our ground for all food and beverage sales (they also have spots at Bristol City/Sheff Wed/Man City) that is until Clegg looked at it and thought "we could do this without the need for them". So Clegg boots them out, then they come to collect all kitchen appliances clegg then threatens them with solicitors. Obviously it is their equipment and Clegg doesnt stand a chance, he then askes them if possible for all the names and numbers of the staff they employed, In which they laughed off.
Unfotuantley the end of this sorry tale is the fact that Evans and Clegg had to stump up best part of £300k for all new kitchen appliances...
When I read that we wouldn't go another 100k for Davies it didn't surprise me. I'd be surprised if we made anymore signings the way they operate. Tighter than a ducks proverbial.
Please don't mention FFP, we are clearly offering peanuts to players on the hope they will come. The tightness also extends to non playing staff and other day to day amenities that are required to run any day to day business. |  |

They didn't sack anyone Dan. They cancelled the contract then cheekliy asked if they could have the staff numbers.
Commercial kitchen appliances are not your £500 B&Q jobbies either. |
Regardless I can't see it costing 300k for replacement equipment, nor could I see them just doing it on a whim without having first weighed out the benefits.
Maybe in the long term they may save money. |  | | |

I'm afraid it sounds to me as though you've been stitched up there.
Obviously I haven't seen the details, but at a guess the Gills have exchanged the income from all those facilities - whether generated on matchdays or from other events - for the next five years for £17.5m.
Now, whatever you think of Lindley's from a customer's perspective (and I think they were awful), they are undeniably very good at making money for themselves, so don't think the Gills have got a good deal here. Only Lindleys have - otherwise they wouldn't have done it. |

Like you,I don't have the details of whether the club gets other monies on top of the 17.5 mill,knowing Scally he'd incoperate some money coming our way on top...l
To be honest,I was a season ticket in the Rainham End from the mid 70's till I came up here in 2007 so when I go back 'm a pie and a pint person.Have been back for do's etc it's ok !!

Maybe, however with stories like this eminating it doesn't seem too coincidental with what they are trying to do.

It is also common practice for the exiting contract caterer to take all their equipment or come to a deal with the incoming company. They will do each other no favours. | | | |

Exactly. That's all i was saying having chatted to someone over the weekend who knows a few goings on.
The problem is, if you say something on here that is perceived to be a negative about the club then people start throwing their dummies out. I'm as big a town fan as the next and want us to succeed, but I do have a few frustrations with the owners, much the same as i'm sure the Utd/Arsenal/Spurs fans do. | |
