Cost of entry to PR in days of yore 12:16 - Aug 21 with 466 viewsBOjK

I've been wondering:

How much did it cost to get into PR the last time they had terracing ('92)?

Similarly,

When was the last time an adult could - on matchday - get into a normal match at PR for a tenner (discounting offers, cup matches etc).

Anyone got any guesses?

Sorry to dissapoint, I dont know, but I did read the other day that, since the premier league started, players wages have risen by 1500%.

I am sure it was around the £8-£10 mark in 92 div 2 winning season.

I am also pretty sure when my Dad first started taking me and my brother it was £ 1.50 for Dad and 75p for kids.

At a guess I'd say the ticket for a tenner would be mid to late 80s.

Your last paragraph is consistent with my recollection. I vaguely remember cost of entry being £1.10 for children and £2.20 for adults and thinking they must have just put the prices up from £1 and £2. That would have been 83/84 ish.

In 1991-92 it was £4 for an under 16 or £6 for an adult in both North and Churchmans.

I remember because the 50% uplift was a significant factor at times that year.

Ok.

I was talking 1981-82 so my £1.50 Dads and £0.75 kids sounds about right.

I would imagine that figure is the lowest paid player in 92 compared with the highest paid player now.

Still a fair old whack though!

Somewhere, I have the letter from the Junior Blues around 1985 which had ticket prices listed on the bottom at £2.50 for adults. I remember noticing it about 10 year later and thinking it was amazing.
Again, that would seem to be consistent with your comments.

It's the disparity between the average national wage and what footballers earn that shows the greatest contrast. I can't remember the statistics though it was something like five or six times greater in the late 80s for First Division players.

So when did it become a tenner?

93? 94?

I think it went up a reasonable amount when the seats went in.
