Come on this is so bad, Sir Bob may have liked the song but I am sure not in this cringeworthy way - I hate the normal intro but at least its not embarressing like this
Say what you like about it but in my opinion it still gives me goosebump when I hear it and I think if the whole ground or at least North Stand belted it out pre kick off then it would really get behind the crowd and raise the atmosphere...
"as I face the final curtain....." The most popular song requested by patients on Hospital Radio!!! Ipswich really does plummet the depths at times. I can hear the opposition chants now, "And now the end is near as you face the final curtain" Hardly any difference but oddly far more appropriate for oppo supporters to sing! OWN GOAL
Agreed. They played it for a few games after SBR passed away, and it was moving the first couple of times, but quickly the realisation that it isnt a song for a football match took over and they canned it.
I don't get it and especially dont get the aggressive responses defending it based on some spurious connection to Sir Bob.
We had EEJB and that feel out of fashion. If we must have something I'd rather that. To me it should be about crowd noise and if we can't generate it, then we end up with what we deserve. Unfortunately good football is required it seems, as we were last really vocal when we went up and did well in the Prem.
I don't know why people are so obsessed with this really. If it wasn't Sir Bobby's song then literally no one would ever have suggested it. It seems like it's some bizarre tribute to him to use it. I reckon he'd prefer us to have something to get the blood pumping. He was a passionate manager, he'd want our boys fired up. We need a rock song if we HAVE to have anything at all...
It is never going to work as an anthem whether Sir Bobby loved it or not it just won't work. I commend the tribute to Sir Bobby with it but I can't see it taking off. It just isn't very rousing.
Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
It's working..it's stirring...it's superb. Quit with the negativity for once for Gods sake. Delilah isn't a football anthem. Glad all over isn't a football anthem. Need I go on? It won with an avalanche of votes, get over it.
Nope, don't like it either. Simply because it has no energy, no drive, you really want something with a bit of go to run out to. That and I personally can't stand the song.

I don't know, I don't pick the music and anything I like (metal and hard rock) probably wouldn't go down too well. Although there is one song I like as a football song but I haven't a clue what it is. I'm not saying it's wrong, it's just my personal feeling towards that song.
It sounds ridiculous but ridiculous songs can work surprisingly well. This being a case in point.
Sung by lots of football fans it could actually be quite good imho despite the cheesy sound of the song. Stoke famously adopted Delilah after a few fans sung it in a pub and then started to adopt it.

Exactly. Songs evolve and are not chosen by a public vote.
No-ones even given it a chance yet. Personally I haven't even heard how it went for the last couple games because I got there late but I'm sure it will catch on.
