| Boro Fan in Peace 15:31 - Sep 4 with 2149 views | borofan | Hi guys. I'm putting together a preview for our next league game against yourselves on the 15th, and was interested in getting a view from the other side so to speak. So if you could do me a favour and answer a few questions for me, I'd really really appreciate it! 1) What are your hopes/your realistic idea of how this season will pan out for Ipswich Town? 2) How did you find last season? Were you satisfied? 3) What do you make of your transfer dealings over the summer? 4) Who do you see as your key player for a) this game and b) throughout the season? 5) What are your views on Grant Leadbitter, now playing for us? 6) What do you think of Middlesbrough FC as a football club, our manager and our chances for the season? 7) Your predictions for this game at the Riverside. Thanks in advance for any input, it's all appreciated! | | | | |
| Boro Fan in Peace on 15:38 - Sep 4 with 2052 views | Heathlander | 1) What are your hopes/your realistic idea of how this season will pan out for Ipswich Town? I do hope the Town make the play-offs. get Boyd and the mad frenchman in together with St ledger and we have a decent team. lots of goals and entertainment at both ends. 2) How did you find last season? Were you satisfied? last season was rubbish and some of the most boring football ever seen at Portman Road apart from the 5-1 demolition of West Ham. Not satisfied at all and fell a little bit out of love with it all 3) What do you make of your transfer dealings over the summer? Loach and Taylor are good signings. Louago is a decent loan signing too. We still need about three more players. Boyd please and the crazy Frenchman. 4) Who do you see as your key player for a) this game and b) throughout the season? Our best player is Lee Martin who is at last fufilling his early promise. Taylor looks really good as does Loach. Chopra is a key player for us as he is our main goal threat. our key player for this game might be Grant leadbetter. He is rubbish ;) 5) What are your views on Grant Leadbitter, now playing for us? ooooh answered too early. Shocking, boring side ways football who makes no noise. good luck with him. 6) What do you think of Middlesbrough FC as a football club, our manager and our chances for the season? We love your manager. Mogga is a legend as is his trusty sidekick Veno. No offence meant but Boro are a bit of a boring football club. You probably think the same about us. I think as your money had run out you will finish just below play-offs. 7) Your predictions for this game at the Riverside. 2--2 heathy has spoken. | |

| Boro Fan in Peace on 15:40 - Sep 4 with 2039 views | Luk38644 | 1) What are your hopes/your realistic idea of how this season will pan out for Ipswich Town? Top 10. The fact of the matter is, we have no right to be in and around the top 6 and currently dont look like a promotion team. Gradual progress is what im hoping for, building around a team of young, promosing players 2) How did you find last season? Were you satisfied? Finished 15th. Awful first half of the season, decent second half. We hit play off form from Febuary-April. It gave us hope for this season but alot of our squad departed. It has been our 3rd season finishing mid table, so i cant imagine many were satisfied. 3) What do you make of your transfer dealings over the summer? Decent. We need a CB for cover or to come in and be a leader. Jewell knows this, we all know this and have done for a while. As for signings... Loach for 150k is a steal. Chambers on a free is a steal. Hewitt looks promising. Murphs is a consistent performer and will add to our squad just like last season. Taylor looks lively, promising and a decent talent. 4) Who do you see as your key player for a) this game and b) throughout the season? Martin for both. If he plays the CAM role like he did last season, he closes down the opposition back 4 and forces errors and less time on the ball. He is critical if we want to relieve pressure from our own back 4 and our midfield. Luongo will also be quite crucial aswell as Chambers/Smith at the back. 5) What are your views on Grant Leadbitter, now playing for us? He did very average at Town. He had good games, then quite a few bad ones. Towards the end of last year, he knew he was off, and upped his performance because of that and he looked very handy, but he was never going to stay. He will do well for your lot IF he has good players around him. And if he learns to pass a ball. 6) What do you think of Middlesbrough FC as a football club, our manager and our chances for the season? A club that should be in the BPL. Always grown up with Boro in the top tier and whenever we play them, its never an easy win, or even a draw at that. We have beat you a few times, drew a few times and havent lost many, but your lot still strike fear into me tbh. Mowbray is a Town legend. He was our main, instrumental CB in our promotion season back in 1999/2000. I think many fans wanted him as manager after Jim Magilton left, but we got Keane and the rest is history. Bad history. You will be fine. You always seem to attract the right players, and if Mowbray gets you playing like last year, who knows? Could be your year. If i would say one thing, your attendances, like ours, have been fairly bad the last few years. Prediction? 2-1 Boro. [Post edited 4 Sep 15:42]

| Boro Fan in Peace on 15:44 - Sep 4 with 2012 views | Mullet | 1) What are your hopes/your realistic idea of how this season will pan out for Ipswich Town? Survival with a faint glimmer of troubling the top half 2) How did you find last season? Were you satisfied? Awful at times, some truly dire "football" and a bizarre car crash of signings and lack of leadership at the club. 3) What do you make of your transfer dealings over the summer? Started well, finished far from satisfactory. 4) Who do you see as your key player for a) this game and b) throughout the season? Loach 5) What are your views on Grant Leadbitter, now playing for us? You have a very tidy footballer - you just need to figure out how to use him (booing doesn't help) 6) What do you think of Middlesbrough FC as a football club, our manager and our chances for the season? You have some of the best still mint condition seats I've ever seen - your manager is a living legend 7) Your predictions for this game at the Riverside. You'll score, we'll score, it'll last about 90 mins. | |

| Boro Fan in Peace on 15:44 - Sep 4 with 2011 views | casanovacrow | 1, hope for playoffs, realistically lower mid table 2, terrible, some real embarrassing moments. Only turned round when the managers hand was forced through injuries and suspensions 3, *bangs head against a wall* nuff said, thats mainly due to players living in a dreamworld 4, a, Loach -not having a good run of form so he'll have to be at his best to stop the rot. 4,b, hopefully Martin but if we keep playing hoofball its gonna be Murph 5, over paid, static, can only pass sideways or backwards 6, You'll be playoffs or there abouts, Mogga can organize a team 7, Depends if we get any joy with loans. I think you'll batter us, plainly because we are shaky at the moment and we don't do small losses. Anything can happen though | | | |
| Boro Fan in Peace on 15:50 - Sep 4 with 1965 views | BackToRussia | 1. Who knows, really. It's almost entirely dependent on Jewell getting in some very very shrewd loans in the next couple of weeks. We need defenders. At our current state, I think we'd do very well to finish many positions above last season's 15th. If we recruit well, we could break into the top 10. 2. Hugely inconsistent, never really built on good "runs". Sometimes shambolic. In a word, no. 3. Promising, although we've recently got rid of Delaney, our only real back up centre back, leaving us pretty exposed. We didn't get any defenders into replace him before the window shut so, again, we need some good loans. Taylor looks very promising, and most people thought he was going to a Premier League club (although you have to wonder why he in fact didn't!) 4. This game? Maybe Taylor again. Made an impact in his debut against Huddersfield, and together with Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, is one of the two players in the squad who can do something special. 5. A decent Championship midfielder. Was surrounded by average players and so perhaps suffered here. Having said that, his performance never really reached any great heights. He has a sort of range of performance which never dips too low, but equally doesn't seem to go very high. 6. Not sure, really. Your ground always seems very empty, and your fans none too bothered. But I have nothing to back up that last claim, really. Maybe you have a lot of fans who expect Premier League football and aren't willing to follow you in the Championship? Good chairman, etc. Mowbray is a good man, and it's a good club. Not too sure of your chances. I suppose you are pretty much assured a top 10 spot, but last season you faded away, so you will obviously need to do something about that. 7. We've drawn a lot recently, haven't we? So yeah. Will go with 2-1 to you lot. Two late goals, after we've been leading most of the game. [Post edited 4 Sep 16:14]

1. Top 10 is a realistic expectation which would show satisfactory progress. 2. We lost 7-1 to Peterborough it beat West Ham 5-1. Those two results pretty much sum up the last 2-3 seasons. And probably this one too, judging by early results. 3. Very good. Loach, Luongo, Chambers, Hewitt and Taylor I'm very pleased with. Hopefully we'll see another long term loan or two. 4. Martin and Luongo in the sense that they are probably our best players but JET in the sense that, on his day, he is so dangerous. 5. I thought he was a good player, then he signed for us. Like Norris, he was average t best when we expected so much more. 6. Boro are boring IMO. Never really had many exciting players (Juninho is an exception) but Tony Mowbray is a Town legend. I think you'll finish 8thish. 7. 1-0 Town. Chopra. [Post edited 4 Sep 15:57]

| Boro Fan in Peace on 16:04 - Sep 4 with 1859 views | Superfranz | As you';ve seen, you'll get some varying views. this board splits between the manic depressives to those who are clearly on happy pills. I'm about a quarter of the way along the line, but at the happy pills end. ;-) 1. mid-table to play-offs is the ambition. 2. no-one can have been. terrible first half, excellent third quarter, tailed off towards the end. We are becoming depressingly predictable. Every season we start off thinking we might be a player or two away from being promotion contenders, but we never quite bridge that gap. The same applies this season. 3. not bad. we needed a keeper, centre half and mobile striker, and we have got all three. but we also let one of our three centre halves go two minutes before the end of the window and that has caused some fuss. we need another centre half (or two) and a holding midfielder really, otherwise our squad is very thin. But, we don't have pots of cash - our owner and chairman are trying to bring us in line with FFP, so salaries have been capped and we're not splashing the cash around. 4. the defence will be key. if we can stop conceding goals on a consistent basis, we have the attacking players who can make things work - Martin, Taylor, JET, Chopra etc. Key players vs Boro? Probably Luongo in midfield and Martin/Taylor. 5. Decent enough player, but we overpaid for him (in hindsight) and he was never as good as his price tag, so was never fully appreciated by Town fans. 6. Mogga is a legend here, he will always have the time of most sensible Town fans. Gibson is the kind of owner which I personally admire (I actually like the fact that our own owner, Marcus Evans, seems similarly patient). Middlesbro? Probably a yo-yo team, who need to get promotion in the next couple of years if they aren't to become a perennial Championship club like ITFC. More money than us though, I would imagine... 7. It could go any number of ways. We could come away with a draw or (on a good day) the full three points. But we could also end up losing. I'd like to think our new signings will have bedded in, we'll have an extra centre-half and we'll get a sneaky 2-1 win. Hope that helps. | |

| Boro Fan in Peace on 16:17 - Sep 4 with 1774 views | Ipswich24 | 1, Over preseason I was hoping for some good signings and pushing into top half. Now looking at other teams including Boro who have some really good players I think we would do well to get into top half. If we can get 3 really good signings in loan window and that includes some defenders who can defend we may surprise a few teams. 2, Not satisfied we seemed to hit some form then went downhill again, too many goals conceded and too many loan players and hasbeens eg Bullard, Bowyer, Ingarmarsson and Sonko. 3, I think the signings of Loach, Chambers, Hewitt and Luongo on loan is the way forward, younger, hungry players. Would have liked another centre half and a goalscoring target man like a Rickie Lambert, Danny Graham type. 4, For this game Chambers if we can defend well can always nick a goal. For the season I would say Martin when he is playing well it makes a big difference. 5, Leadbitter is a very talented player, he just never really did enough for me, apart from at the end when he played very well. 6, I think you will probably be up there competing for playoffs. Like the fact you give yougsters a try. Mowbray was fantastic player and leader for us, was disappointed we didnt give him the chance to manage here. Likes his teams to play football which is good thing IMO. 7, At this moment in time I would be very happy with point, but with right defensive signings we could sneak a win. | |

| Boro Fan in Peace on 16:51 - Sep 4 with 1644 views | RYITFC | 1) Hopes top 6, realistic based on first 4 games, Lower mid table 2) Unsatisfied but used to the mediocrity 3) Satisfied with who we've brought in, it's who we haven't bought in, at least 2 centre halves short 4) Paul Taylor 5) never lived up to his £2.75 million price tag (not his fault he was never worth that much), Was always the scapegoat, was a symbol of the Keane era 6) A good side but there are plenty of good sides in the championship, really like Tony Mowbery, from what i saw of you last season defensively very strong but no cutting edge. If you want to be in the top 6 this year your gonna need to have more of an attacking threat. 7) I will go for a score draw. | | | |
| Boro Fan in Peace on 17:01 - Sep 4 with 1605 views | ItfcLoyal | 1) What are your hopes/your realistic idea of how this season will pan out for Ipswich Town? Top 10 would be nice after to many seasons of mid table mediocrity, realistically with our current squad looking at 15-12th 2) How did you find last season? Were you satisfied? Another poor season, Defensivly awful which cost us in to many games, attacking football slightly improved (not hard considering how dull it was when Keane was in charge) 3) What do you make of your transfer dealings over the summer? Pretty happy, would of liked at least another CB on a permanent deal, but overall cant complain cosidering our financial status. 4) Who do you see as your key player for a) this game and b) throughout the season? Lee martin, Needs to continue to play how he has and give Chopra a little extra support other wise he will become isolated once again. Taylor looks a good player so i'd say him for key figure through out season. 5) What are your views on Grant Leadbitter, now playing for us? Quite average, had a good end to season only to win a contract for another club. 6) What do you think of Middlesbrough FC as a football club, our manager and our chances for the season? Mogga is a great guy, and seems a decent manager. nice stadium with a good youth policy. outside shot for the play offs in my opinion. 7) Your predictions for this game at the Riverside. 2-1 Boro [Post edited 4 Sep 17:03]

Chambers is poor and slow. 4/ Loach to keep the score down and save us some much needed points. 5/ Rubbish for four years but better than Norris which isn't saying much 6/ I have respect for Mr Gibson who is a proper football chairman and always seems to me to talk sense 7/4-1 defeat unless we have changed manager by then!

| Boro Fan in Peace on 13:05 - Sep 6 with 1154 views | bournemouthblue | 1) What are your hopes/your realistic idea of how this season will pan out for Ipswich Town? It wasn't so long ago we were a regular fixture in the play-offs but five seasons of mediocrity despite having a billionaire owner have dampened our optimism some what. We have a young side, we've shifted our transfer policy to "young hungry players" so a positive season, with some decent passing football and a top ten finish would be seen as decent progress. 2) How did you find last season? Were you satisfied? Last season was another mediocre season with some ups and lots of downs. We actually scored a decent tally of goals but our defence was truly woeful. While we were a defensive nightmare, our attacking play was a step up on the dross Roy Keane produced. 3) What do you make of your transfer dealings over the summer? I was fairly happy with the dealings, we seemed to go about our business patiently and sensibly. The recruits we have made are certainly better than what we've got but the defence hasn't really been addressed. We have Bilel Mohsni on trial from Southend, fans on here have been clamouring for his signature given we seemingly have no backup at centre back at the moment. The general consensus on here has been we need two new centre backs Mohsni hopefully being one of them. 4) Who do you see as your key player for a) this game and b) throughout the season? Lee Martin is probably our key player simply because of his high workrate playing behind Chopra. He puts in the shift of two players constantly harassing defenders and doing his best to reduce their time on the ball. He frees up space for our other players to do more damage in. We have two real flair players in Paul Taylor and Jay Emmanuel Thomas who hopefully once they're firing they will make us a serious handful in the final third. 5) What are your views on Grant Leadbitter, now playing for us? Leadbitter always looked talented to me but rarely if ever did he effectively use his talent. He seems to possess a bullet shot but rarely seemed to get close enough to goal to use it. His corner taking was woeful and while he occasionally looked threatening from free kicks, he rarely actually scored any. He was a huge fan or sideways passing and seemed to possess the total inability to play an incisive pass. He'll probably go on and be a steady performer for you. When he first came in he looked like a class act but slowly petered towards mediocrity. 6) What do you think of Middlesbrough FC as a football club, our manager and our chances for the season? You're a decent club, not unlike us really but you've tasted a lot more Premiership football. Mogga is a legend at Ipswich also, we'd have loved him to have been full-time manager in the past, he should have replaced Magilton instead of Keane and I'm sure many fans would almost certainly like to see him here in the future. 7) Your predictions for this game at the Riverside. I think it will be a tough one with our paper thin defence but I'll bullishly suggest a cheeky 2 - 1 win to Town. [Post edited 6 Sep 13:09]

Elliot Hewitt on way back from long-term injury unlikely to figure. Skipper Carlos Edwards should return at right back after a groin injury saw him miss Huddersfield game. Otherwise full squad
