| Chopra and Twitter again 09:44 - Feb 3 with 2328 views | sparks | He appears actually to have posted a picture of himself, from when he was a promising young player at Newcastle, playing in Champs League "~for all the haters". Mr Chopra, no one hates you for having once been a talented young player. Neither does any doubt that there is and has been some real footballing talent. The grief you get is down to your behaviour, for which you still seem unwilling to accept any responsibility, and for your mindless whining on Twitter. Do yourself a favour, stop making a fool of yourself on the internet, and get to the training ground. Do all you can to make that talent you once had shine again... If you are interested. | | | | |

A troubled individual who makes a habit of feeling persecuted and feeling sorry for himself. I am unable to be sympathetic in the slightest. He has had it all and lousied it due to his own shortcomings. Quite frankly, the man is a mess. I, personally, dislike the whole circus especially when it spills over into affairs ITFC. Get rid of him and get shot of his influence in the dressing room. He is a waste of time and a waste of money. A million pound lost on gambling. Good God! Idiot.

| Chopra and Twitter again on 11:50 - Feb 3 with 1323 views | RetroBlue | Whilst Chopra, and any other player that uses Twitter for that matter, do little to help themselves, I do wish people would lay off Chopra, and give the guy a chance to get his life back on track. Yes he's had a privileged life compared to the majority of us , and has more money than we could ever hope to have had, and he's wasted it. But he is a human being , and is an individual that is actually not well - he has an addiction. So do we put the boot in when a man's down? Is that what Ipswich Town fans are REALLY like? Give the guy the benefit of the doubt, support him and we might just get back a bloody good striker. Because his football quality has never been in doubt. NB: as an aisde I see Gazza has started drinking again (report in national press), and is in desperate need of help - again. If he was a Town player, I wonder if we'd have people on here verbally abusing him on Twitter? Give Chopra support - not grief. | |

I dont think people boot him when hes down particularly. Always a few morons. Goes without saying. The rest are probably reacting to his ridiculous persecution complex and the way he keeps arrogantly hitting out. Cantr be doing his mindset, belief and morale any good at all. Quite why the club have not sat him down and said "Get off public twitter" is beyond me. Maybe they have and hes ignored it.
| Chopra and Twitter again on 12:01 - Feb 3 with 1260 views | DanTheMan | Whilst we're at it, maybe other people could stop constantly posting abuse to him on there as well. As I understand it, constantly abusing people with obvious and serious mental health problems is neither moral, or helpful. Whilst he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, I see no reason why he should just sit there and take it. | | | |

Agreed - he has a recognized addiction that is extremely difficult to overcome from what I've experienced (a friend of mine's husband gambled everything away 5 years ago and it's still a battle despite not having gambled since then). For me the footballer is secondary, we need to support the man himself. The guy is getting some utterly silly abuse hence his #forthehaters response. Having said that, he should just block people and ignore them. But seeing the numbskulls who started it, you can understand why footballers aren't as accessible as people would like - they must get an unhealthily high percentage of these types when they interact with fans.

Would anybody say these things to his face? No. Here is a selection of the lovely tweets he has to deal with: "David Beckham not the first player to give his salary away. @MichaelChopra10 donated his salary to Ladbrokes. Credit @bigtsafc" "@MichaelChopra10 haha your a proper nob just face it your a loser" "Do you want to lend a tenner?? @MichaelChopra10" "@MichaelChopra10 You faggot" "@Baz_24 @michaelchopra10 well...he's just dead would now, sooner out the better! #uselessc*nt" “@MichaelChopra10: @Samuel__Osborne @CoDurham yolo” haha what a role model #addict #prick" It goes on and on and on.
| Chopra and Twitter again on 12:09 - Feb 3 with 1203 views | RetroBlue | agreed. I do hoever think the Club should be stepping in here (if they havent already) and ban ALL Town players form using Twitter. I think other Clubs have done similar. If nothing else , it shows a lack of professionalism from todays' modern footballer. They are in the piblic eye, and have (IMO) a responsibility to act accordingly. Many of them , frankly , need to grow up. | |

Actually I find it remarkably easy to have sympathy for people with mental health issues if they're being subjected to abuse by ignorant folk on the internet. Not that that's to say he doesn't help himself, sometimes, but unless people think that normal standards of decent behaviour cease to apply online, I'm not sure how the response 'It's the internet' in response to Dan's entirely correct statement that 'constantly abusing people with obvious and serious mental health problems is neither moral, or helpful.' is anything other than epic, as you might say, logic fail.

The only time I've ever been abused on Twitter was once, when I foolishly posted my tongue-in-cheek criticism of a boy band on X-factor and got slaughtered by half a dozen of their adoring weeny-bopper fans. It's not the social platform that's at fault, it's the user. A high profile character like Chops with the off-field problems that he has and lack of success on the pitch over several months now, should simply not be presenting himself under his real name on any public social media. I'd have thought he was bright enough to grasp that but apparently he isn't. ITFC should certainly advise him to close his acct.

Quite. And having started to do it- to react back the way he constantly does is utterly stupid. Now that may just be his nature. It may even be (to a limited extent) something to do with his addiction (lets not pretend that he is somehow on the verge of being sectioned- its an addiction, which he is supposedly currently beating having had lots of support and treatment). But its utterly counter productive, demonstrates a persecution complex, and makes things worse. Why the club havent put a stop, I dont know.

The "18 months left" is him just saying he's not leaving when he was asked to "#getoutofmyclub" or similar. Is he just "counting it down" like you suggest? Who knows but you've definitely taken a leap to get there.
