I was just wondering where booing an ex captain comes into the Ipswich way and the family club who is everyone's second team? People say ME is destroying tradition, clegg is destroying tradition, keane, jewell etc. What are the fans doing to help? Same goes with the abuse of Chopra on twitter

"Ipswich" when we're winning, we're only "Ipswich" when we're winning etc.

Over the past few years we seem to have gone from being a little club on the up to a big club on the slide. Not just in terms of results but in fans' attitude. Maybe a better attitude and atmosphere around the club comes before success? Certainly wouldn't do any harm.

We've never been a small club imho, we're a medium sized club like many others. In some ways we've punched above our weigh and in other ways we haven't won as much or got as much as we've deserved really. If it wasn't for the play-off system we'd have certainly enjoyed many more years in the top flight.

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I dont think ex-captains have ever been afforded that courtesy necessarily, its more a case how fans felt the player (assuming they even remember them) had performed for the club and how theyd left the club.

I dont think Leadbitter was a particular fans favourite, simple as that, summed up by the fact more were annoyed that the contract situation meant he left for free....not that he left at all.

The fans are journeying towards hell in a handcart. Football died when the Premier League started and moral standards and politeness declined. (not linked)
The I want everything and I want it now generation show little tolerance or respect.

Ah the myth of the decline of moral standards. Usually gets wheeled out now and again, that one.

Probably because it's true but only those with an open mind can see it.

The club 'turned a particular corner' when certain idiots thought it was acceptable to BOO Matt Holland on his return to PR, when he was a Charlton player.

I'm sure they'd justify their actions by claiming it was just 'bantz'.
Probably the same defence used by that 17yo which was arrested for stabbing another teenager close to the Butter Market yesterday.

It's simply down to lack of respect and how standards have dropped......put it this way, would your Grandfather have booed him when he was in his teens or twenties, errr...no!

The sad thing is I'm probably half the age of most who booed.

From what I've heard we would have matched his wage at Boro so I don't think cash was the reason he left.

You act as though booing ex players is a new thing, irrespective of them being a captain of the club, if a player betrays the club by leaving on a free when he could have told the club his intention long before and we could have got some money back on him then there is no reason why would should pretend everything is cool with that!

Unless we have had to sell, Dyer, Ambrose, Bramble that's a different story, these players are accepted back with open arms as they have perceived loyalty, then you get players like Alan Lee who gave more than leadbitter ever did who was booed in part mostly to his move to scumland, also back in day with Dozzel he waned to go, we got not an unrealistic price for him at the time so all should have been cosy but no he wanted to leave us therefore he felt our opinion on his decision in the only way we could let him know, I seem to recall Dozzel scoring for spurs against us on his return to PR with them so he probs had the last laugh with that!

Even some of the legends from 1981 uefa cup winning team got booed when they turned up for other teams, yes they got the ovation they deserved before kick off and either upon being substituted or the final whistle, but while in the battle of the game the boo's rang out.

I should think that booing of ex players is more common today given the lack of loyalty that most of them seem to have, and as I eluded to at the start if any one player loved the club as much as us fans do then they would leave when its time for us to sell them or cancel their contracts (as in Scotlands case who I very much doubt there will be any boo's for )and not stab us in the back and feck off for nothing.

Not saying the booing is right but you have to understand the reasoning behind it, it not just from mindless idiots who like the sound of their own voices, its from the fans who love this club til they die and expect the same from those who play for it.........not those that that collect a pay check and don't give a sh!t!

It a big man ting!

His first book was a bit heavy but believable in places: I quite enjoyed it tbh.

The 2nd was more of an easy read but a bit far fetched.

I'm not a fan of His stand up but await the 3rd book with anticipation.

Amazed no one's made a film as yet.

We've not been anyone's 2nd favourite team for a long time.

Any more than Leeds.
