Blackpool's Pitch (FLS) 16:59 - Feb 3 with 484 viewsGunnsAirkick

Watched the Football League Show earlier, Blackpool's pitch has to be one of the worse I've seen for a long time. I've seen better Sunday League pitches!

Posh's looked pretty horrendous too but not on the same level. Some of the League One and League Two pitches looked a bit rough (as you'd expect), but none were as bad as Blackpool's. How do they get away with it? I suppose the same argument could be used for our 'snow pitch' against Leicester though. Ours incidentally looked one of the best.

It was rumoured that was one of reasons Ollie left. Their chairman won't invest in club and he took an £11m dividend last season.

Ollie wanted to have a better pitch to play footy on and they'd apparently clashed over it as chairman showed no ambition to go back up/reinvest parachute payments.

Although on the face of it, an owner trying to make money out of a club is a step in the right direction. A profit would signify it's a sustainable and well-run club.

Yeah it's a tough balance, but I'd be pretty annoyed if we'd have give down by 1 point and ME took out £11m....

I think their stance on wage structures and strictness is admirable and correct, but backing a manager to get you back up when you've got £16m parachute payment and he just got you to play off final seems strange (business and football wise)

On the subject of pitches, ours doesn't look like the carpet of old. Obviously the weather won't have helped recently.

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I heard one of their fans on a phone in saying how they were embarrassed about the condition of the pitch and some elements of the ground.

I don't think they can help the fact it's in Blackpool to be fair.

11 million was an awful lot, I agree. But that's probably covering a number of years.

On a side note, I think we hit the jackpot with someone like Evans - even if we haven't seen the benefit of it on the pitch yet. He's not in it for self-publicity, just his company, and he's not going to throw Russian/Saudi/Malaysian levels of money and expectations at the club. Nor will he look to make too much of a profit while owning a Premiership club that helps promote the rest of his empire.

I get the feeling he wants us to be the ITFC of 2000/01 rather than anything like the current QPR approach. But it'll be very interesting to see how he looks at things if and when we get promoted.
