Bid rejected for Bogle.. 16:21 - Jan 9 with 3808 viewsKing_of_Portman_Rd

.. From Rotherham.

£850k apparently.

Maybe they are trying to get that deal finalised before Ward can leave..

Maybe we could cut out the middle man and just sign Bogle instead of Ward.

Bogle will be going for at least a few million, won't he?

Which is apparently what Rotherham want for Ward..

Odds are we miss out on both, but seems that transfers are taking place and freeing up some potential movement for some of our potential targets.

To be fair, I'm not that discouraged by the lack of speculation. Mick has a proven record of signing a player without any build up reported.

I agree. Bogle is younger and taller (and stronger?) than Ward, so we could start by trying a £1M bid for Bogle and take it from there. If he comes good in the Championship he could easily be worth ten times that.

I am discouraged, as in December McCarthy spoke about making signings early in the window and is now taking about custard pies in our face.

The only target Mr Evans has is spending a little as possible.
The only target Mick has is finding another way of saying "We did all we could" just didn't appen.

That's really a comment made for Marcus to hear along the lines of "I step out in my natty gear and my undersized cheque-book, and they turn round and dish out the clown's treatment as if we were all in on the joke."

Mick says that he knows the deal with ME, and just gets on with it, but such thinly veiled comments as this are on the increase.

£1M Rotherham want for Ward apparently. We supposedly offered £500K.

Agreed. When Mick said he knew the gig when he arrived he was saying 'I get well paid and because the owner is not committed to a spending strategy there is not a great deal of expectation.'
But things have changed and it is clear he is frustrated by the lack of investment, although his sense of loyalty to ME - and the fact that he knows where his bread is buttered - will not allow him to admit it publicly.

I think the speculation was that they'd accept £500,000 as he's out of contract in the summer. Obviously to some extent what fee they'll get will depend on who and how many clubs are interested. One report claimed they have an option for a further year but not seen that that's been confirmed. If they have then I'd imagine they'll trigger it.

No, I'm not sure we made a firm bid as such, I get the impression there's an ongoing negotiation re the fee.

I'd be surprised if he was stronger, Ward looks like an absolute beast

Bogle looks more like a player who plays off the shoulder?

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I think the most sensible thing would be to sign both of them. Imagine what a lift that would give the fans, and it would give McCarthy another chance to make it work at Ipswich. Over to you, Marcus Evans. Dream on... ;-)
