That's quite an interesting lineup! on 14:07 - Jan 14 with 1694 views | jeera | So that's Lawrence up front? I guess Mick's thinking he's the one with our best chance of goals atm. Maybe Sears will get some confidence from him.

Depends whether Lawrence is out on the left, or more central and further forwards.

Young defender I think, he was on the bench for the Lincoln game. [Post edited 14 Jan 2017 14:14]

Pat Webber, Youth left back. Was on the bench for the Cup game.

That's quite an interesting lineup! on 14:18 - Jan 14 with 1444 views | Mullet | I presume it's 3 at the back, which after QPR might be Mick forced/wanting to give it another airing. However he did once put Mings and Cresswell down the flank at Burnley and I could see him doing that with Emmanuel to keep it two banks of 4. I can only see that it'll be 343 again though with Lawrence and Sears crisscrossing Andre as the deeper attacker. Hopefully it'll pull them out of shape and not the other way around.

Looking a bit makeshift isn't it? But youngsters coming into the fold thick and fast. How do you look a that? Exciting or lightweight?

I imagine Sears will be the designated striker. Feel it would tie Lawrence down too much if he had that role.

It would be exciting if our youngsters were good, but unfortunately they are just youngsters. Not on the same level as Bent, Ambrose, Dyer, R Wright etc atc

Both! Many a yongster has come in in an emergency and surprised everyone. bishop being the latest. With someone like Mick it may be the best thing. I think it's exciting personally.

A bit of both, really. But that's the price of playing the youngsters whom everyone wants to see and are the future of the club.

I'm sorry but very good youngsters do not need 20 chances to show if they are good or not. Did Dozell touch the ball on Saturday? Horrible to admit it but or youngsters are average these days. I want a prodigy to appear like anyone else but we don't have it

You clearly don't remember the first seasons of some of those you listed very well, or take into account they were put into a much better and settled team. The idea that every youngster has to live up to the best we've produced to be useful is silly too. Snr was telling me on the drive to QPR how Beattie was full of mistakes as a kid but SBR persisted. Imagine that.

This is the problem with unrealistic fans, (not referring to matey here). Those screaming for Dozzel the other week as though he was some obvious saviour just couldn't seem to fathom that's he's a kid who needs to be introduced gradually and correctly. Like they just wander into the side fully developed...

Not as I remember it, but time can play tricks. Beattie was a force of nature from the off in the 72-3 season. Agree with the more general point though.

Plus Bishop missed a whole season with a stress injury even though he had hardly played a full 90 minutes. Bones don't fuse before around 21 years of age and professional football is highly attritional. Young players need the cotton wool approach for the sake of the longevity of their careers.

Dozzell hasn't played 10 games for Ipswich yet.
