We're not going to hold onto our bits whilst 'negotiating' with the EU. Or something like that.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Looking that way isn't it? So far replacement funding from the government looks like it's going to be routed through schemes like Innovate UK, which is going to make it very difficult for anyone whose work isn't both applied and aligned to current government strategy (which swings like a weather vein as we well know). We need to see a big injection of funding into RCUK, but I'm not holding my breath on that...

This is tantamount to swingeing cuts across the board. I'll still live, my concern is for poorer areas who have been kept afloat not by our own government but by the EU who identified a real need that I'm not sure that the Tories are that bothered about.

Interesting, they are going to take on all EU law into British law on the day that we exit. That is actually brilliant news.

Really? Because:

Iceland
Norway
Albania
Bosnia and Herzegovina
the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
Montenegro
Serbia
Turkey
Israel
Moldova
Switzerland
Faroe Islands
Ukraine
Tunisia
Georgia

All receive ERC Funding. How many of those countries I have listed are members of the EU?

Global Britain. Job done.

Apparently.

The only problem with this particular meaningless soundbite is apparently that (a) other EU countries manage to export more globally and to emerging countries than we do, (b) quite a few are able to do so more easily and cheaply than we do, and (c) several EU countries are more globally competitive than we are. EU membership is therefore not a barrier to us improving our global trade position. We can be more 'globular' as we are, if we chose to be.

This is too stupid; I'm orf.

They pay in. So far it's looking like we don't want to 'cherry pick', which I'd assume means we'll chose not to pay in to access EU initiatives. You're right though that we don't really have a scoobies what May wants; anything is still possible.

I can't see us paying into it with this government, that's just my opinion.

OP: Yip, TM has a plan, which is more than Cameron did. He lost what He thought was a stone wall referendum result, and promptly slunk away, not having the guts to continue to lead this Country through a difficult time.

Cameron is a gutless silver spooned Tory, who is happy to jump ship when he doesn't get what He wants.

Quite. What's she's saying is that 'with good luck and a following wind we might be able to negotiate terms of trade with non-EU countries almost as good as the terms of trade we have with those countries as a member of the EU.'

And if anybody believes trumpy's offer of a quick trade deal with the US will actually be of benefit to anybody but the US, they are deluding themselves.

trumpy is, after all, a snale oil salesman.

Hmmm, it's taken seven months for her to reach this point after much incompetence along the way. I think that's still open to debate.

Hodges is from that part of the Labour Party still stuck with the idea that agreeing with events rather than trying to influence them is the route to power. Which is why they lose out within the party to the ideologically zealous who have no hope of getting near power and don't seem to care.
