Transfer market and the like 14:20 - Jan 19 with 323 viewsBorisOrTrevor

Half the threads on here nowadays seem to be bemoaning the current transfer situation in this division and how unrealistic it is,unsustainable, bad for football. All may be true but it is the new reality and we must adapt and adapt quick. The lure of getting in to the PL is so great you will always have some going for it + the money from parachute payments also is not going anywhere. Foreign investors have now seen Leicester go all the way through and actually win it, this will only serve to bring more money on to the scene.

In light of this, Marcus Evans either a) needs to put more cash in to the club immediately and stop fannying around, back Mick properly if it is him he wants or get a Manager in he trusts with money b) move heaven and earth to sell it to somebody who can push the club forward with investment if either he has lost his bottle/is running low personally or c) completely changes the ethos of the club, stop trying to compete on the cheap by playing dire negative football which does nothing for anybody, stop paying Managers £1m a year+, start pumping all of the money we can in to developing youth and play with excitement with young forward thinking coaches. If this means relegation so be it, we will be finding our true level - if we don't generate enough revenue/are not attractive enough to be bought by somebody else with deep pockets that is where we deserve to be, at least we will watch entertaining football. Look at Lincoln fans for example for how much fun you can have going to a football match even in the conference.

I for one think we are a top 30 club and would be sold to somebody who would have a go fairly easily if we were marketed, the deal would likely have to be for Marcus to take a lower stake and perhaps only realise his full stake if we ever do get promoted in the future. I'm sure something to the benefit of all could be done.

Unfortunately however at the moment we have a half hearted mix of point 1 and point 3 - like somebody who has lost the will but refuses to let go (we all know how damaging this can be with relationships coming to an end, you end up hating each other). We are never going to get anywhere without clear direction and leadership and we will bored to death to boot, like it or not Marcus Evans needs to emerge from his shell and show some leadership.
