Meanwhile not a word on our Prime Minister being evasive on TV over whether she knew we had a Trident missile misfire last year.

You keep peddling this line that she is unelected. That's clearly nonsense.

She was elected by her constituents to serve as a member of parliament. As a member of parliament she has every right to lead her party if she receives enough nominations.

As the country voted in a Conservative government at the last general election she, as leader of the Conservative party, has a mandate to run the country.

It may be of interest for you to know that in the past 100 years, half of our Prime Ministers have reached their position without winning a general election.

Most recently the list includes Jim Callaghan, John Major and Gordon Brown.

Our greatest Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill, became PM without having to win a general election.

She is unelected I'm not peddling anything
Churchill didn't want the British to vote anyway
May never even aon the tory leadership, that god botherer Leadsom dropped out after being asked a question

Brown was unelected also, May is absolutely ten fold out of her depth, Corbyn, who has many principles and ideas I admire would win an election if the Blairites, worse than tories, stopped stabbing him in the back

1951.

Less votes maybe but more seats and given the rules he won by a vote of people.

Of course it's a big deal.

This happened just before the vote in Parliament on renewing Trident.

It was interesting to hear the Business Secretary this morning describing how we needed Trident to protect us from our enemies.

Firstly, stop bombing places and you'll have far less enemies.
Secondly, It's for attacking from 5000 miles away. If you enemies are 5000 miles away that is pretty good. If you are still worried about someone 5000 miles away, you are the problem.

Although I despise May and she is unelected, you're dead right to point out Putin, he is a warmonger, scumbag and democracy interferer, the left ignores his war crimes in Syria. George Galloway has to be given a job by Putin or Trump the ass licking he's done to both

I think I understand cruise missiles perfectly.

You clearly don't, Trident is a ICBM not a cruise missile. A cruise missile is subsonic missile flying at low speeds and altitudes whilst an ICBM follows a parabolic curve touching the atmosphere and then returning at many times the speed of sound.

"wins" was a poor choice of words. However for something to be a deterrent it has to have at least the range of the thing you are trying to deter.

Whether one should be trying to deter is a different argument entirely.

Good point, well made.

Although, depending on the date in June when this happened - which I haven't seen disclosed yet, I would have thought the responsibility for owning up was Fallon's as Defence Secretary or Cameron's rather than the then Home Secretary's.

Be interesting to know whether it landed at sea or whether the US had to 'take it out'.

"Good point, well made."

It's not a deterrent though is it? It's a weapon.
You only need weapons if you attack. We do a lot of that. I don't appreciate it being done with my tax money and in my name.

I wouldn't have a problem with them squandering billions on trident and the royal family if they put both to a referendum, they won't because they'd lose at least one

The tories have religiously spouted the sun, daily mail, daily express bile that Corbyn is a security threat, now they refuse to answer questions on something as serious as this. For the record, I think trident is absolutely useless, un-usable, and a toxic waste of money. The NHS is on it's knees and May, 100% unelected is itching to jet off and see that orange block of lard in the states, the pervo Trump. Pathetic

Of course it's a deterrent, us having Trident stops countries that also have nuclear weapons from trying anything. Better to have it and not need it than to not have it and need it.
