Driving whilst on a mobile 18:23 - Jan 23 with 3023 views | gtsb1966 | Didn't realise that from March 1st the punishment doubles to a £200 fine and six points and then if caught again a ban and up to a grand fine. Anyone else think that using a mobile whilst driving should be treated the same as drink driving. I see so many people doing it now its obvious a fine doesn't work.

Driving whilst on a mobile on 20:03 - Jan 23 by feelingblue | Saw a bloke on the M5 the other reading his newspaper while doing 70mph. I noticed because he edged into my lane as I was overtaking him (yes, I know) |
Well you can't both of being doing 70. Are you sure he wasn't doing 68?

No, I think my speedo must have been calibrated marginally differently than his.

Imagine Dad dancing to S-club 7 and you are about there.

Driving whilst on a mobile on 20:37 - Jan 23 with 1037 views | WD19 | At peak times drivers use my road as a bit of a cut through. Every other bloody car has a driver fiddling with a phone. Does my head in; wish police would just go big on it for a short period of time and get ppl out of the habit. See also dog eggs on pavements.....albeit the consequences are less.

Driving whilst on a mobile on 18:52 - Jan 23 by jeera | To be fair as far as serious accidents go I'm sure the phones are checked as a matter of course. |
Yep, phones are confiscated and in my limited experience they also search the vehicles and nearby verges for hastily discarded phones and tablets.

Driving whilst on a mobile on 23:58 - Jan 23 with 921 views | The_Last_Baron | I'd have anyone caught using a mobile phone while driving 6 points, £200 fine and a stern reprimand. If caught a second time £1000, 12 month ban, have to retake your driving test and your vehicle taken and sold with the profits going to victims of road traffic accidents. If caught a third time I'd have a 5 year ban and a custodial sentence of a few months. Only draconian punishments and strict enforcement will discourage this menace.

Yes, because all cars on the road are less than 3 years old.

What a nonsensical comment.
