Two ways of looking at it. Williams, Fraser, Lawrence all might have been the one thing to push us over the line in any given season.
Not having those sorts of quality players is a risk in some respects. In an ideal world we'd be signing them and having them as our own. But waiting another 2-3 years from the moment they are put in the team at 19 or so might take a fair while. | |

Even if Lawrence was our own player, do you think we'd be able to hang onto him this summer? And would most of the £10-15M we'd get for him be reinvested in a quality replacement? No and probably not.
So in a way, it doesn't really matter whether he's our player or not. In fact, if he was ours, we probably would have sold him last week. |  |
