BBC stats suggest 11 shots, with only 1 being on target in the whole 90mins.

What does that suggest to you?

It suggests that just looking at the basic stats doesn't really give you the story of the game.

There were plenty of good chances that were put wide or over, take a look at the highlights and you can see the chances we had.

Possession looks fairly shared.

Extremely happy with the 3pts. Well done MM on a battling away performance.

Villa were on top for what sounded like 2/3 of the game but we had our periods, McG and Spence had great chances. Basically a typical away game, that we won.

I only heard the second half commentary.

But Mick Mills thought they bossed it first half and maybe became complacent with us losing Taylor and Berra - as a result Diagouraga, Huws and Ward (especially) were excellent second half, which we dominated. McGoldrick was also good, so they said, and Chambers orchestrated the defence really well.

If you watch the highlights it would appear that it may have been. But who really cares? We've had no luck the last few weeks, this is the least we deserved

Villa must have had their chances, right?
22 shots with 9 shots on target.

Either their strikers had a complete mare or our GK had a worldy.

Or the shots on target weren't great. Tame headers, overhit passes that go to the 'keeper count as shots on target.

Didn't say they didn't. Mills said they bossed it first half. There's a link to some highlights on the forum - it certainly looks like a game of two halves.

So wouldn't that essentially imply a typical battling away smash & grab?
1-0. Clean sheet. 1 shot on target. 3pts. Result.

It's possible to look at it that way, but that would ignore the fact that we seem to have dominated second half.

Oh, I agree. It's a shame we've been struggling to score for most of this season.
Don't we have something like the 5th worse 'Goals For' record in the Championship.

1 shot on target in the whole 90mins surely cements those concerns.

Depends on your interpretation of smash and grab. If you mean they had more shots than us yes it was.If you mean we were dominated for most of the game then no it wasn't.....admittedly I was only listening on the radio but we appeared to control the majority of the 2nd half from the off. The first half I was waiting for the inevitable the 2nd I believed we could win.

Absolutely not

Matched them first half, better than them second half for sure. That's the opponent of both me and grandad Romford

Sounds like on balance of play a point would have been fair. However, sometimes you are rewarded for being brave. Sheer determination won the day. This also doesn't sound like Derby away, which was a smash and grab.
