If you were prime minister what trivial laws/initiatives would you bring in? on 06:07 - Feb 20 by The_Romford_Blue
I thought we were talking about Heath
So it's madness to say that IF the allegations are true, there's a massive cover up involving loads of members of parliament.
But if it's not true, there's definetely no cover up.
It's from one verge of extreme to the other that I consider 'madness' CIL
[Post edited 20 Feb 2017 6:10]
But like CIL points out, Saville said that he could bring down Snr politicians, judges, police and establishment figures and to me its no surprise that people like Saville and Cyril Smith only get more deeply investigated when they are dead and obviously can't say too much. You then have to ask why no deeper investigations were made when they were alive because if it was you or I we would be hauled in.
I think that its naive not to consider that CIL's position doesn't have a good deal of credit and this sort of abuse operates as a web of connections not as Lone Wolf's. Certainly governments can shake off things like expenses abuse by reform and in time it fades from public thought but what we are talking about here would have far deeper implications and there is all the more need to cover things up.

Balls to that ! there are plenty of inner city slum areas do them up or build on the sites.
Some of us love and our beautiful countryside.
Too right Benters, plenty of places to build without despoiling the countyside. This is just housing companies wanting to charge top dollar for more attractive locations rather than putting the effort in to more difficult areas. Building and changing areas of towns and cities would revitalise them and give housing to people where they want to live and work.

Will watch tomorrow. Am off to bed
There may well be what you say.
But I think it's madness to suggest that there definetely is a major cover up IF he's guilty. Whereas it's all kushty if he's innocent.
Hinging on an investigation of an ex MP over whether a massive amount of government covered up about a paedophile
It's YOU who has said things hinge on "an investigation of an ex MP over whether a massive amount of government covered up about a paedophile" and also earlier with "IF the allegations are true, there's a massive cover up involving loads of members of parliament".
I have said no such thing.
I said "If by some miracle the allegations against Heath are found to be true, then there they'll be a bigger crime that's being hidden up and Heath will be classified as a "lone wolf paedo MP".
I don't know why you have turned my "lone wolf paedo" into a cover up involving "massive amounts" of people.

No, I would have put money into getting tidal and wave energy onstream by now. Orkney uses those and has such a surfeit it is exporting energy year-round. Low population of course, but the UK elsewhere obviously has a vast coastline.
According to official data from the International Energy Agency and OECD, the New Scientist calculates that fatalities from hydropower far exceed the number of deaths from all other energy sources.

Cash is being phased out, had you not noticed? It's the worst idea ever.
Yes, pretty glacially though. I'd introduce legislation to speed it up. I think this has been done in some parts of Scandinavia where merchants aren't legally required to accept cash.
I don't agree that cash is the worst idea ever, I think it's served civilisation pretty well for millennia. It has become obsolete though. I would say Jar Jar Binks was a worse idea.

Are you mental?
If money is just electronic, you can be denied access to it at will. Good luck with that world

According to official data from the International Energy Agency and OECD, the New Scientist calculates that fatalities from hydropower far exceed the number of deaths from all other energy sources.
Is that within the industry alone, or does it make any allowance for deaths from respiratory diseases and the like exacerbated by poor air quality?
In reality, the siting of power stations and the like is generally not going to cause major health effects, but switching personal transport to electricity generated by sustainable means would have a marked effect on health, and carbon production.

i get why some people wouldnt agree with death penalty. i think theres definately for's and againsts there.
however im interested - why do you not agree to the concept of people having to work for benefits? My thinking when i typed this was id envisage this based on something like jobseekers allowance, where you have to work 12 hours per weke to get it. i accept some people genuinely cannot work.
Dunno about anyone else but after decades of paying tax into the system partly to pay for benefits, if the situation ever came about that I needed to claim them I would take exception to being told I had to pick up some lazy cnt's crap to get them,
