The pitch 10:44 - Feb 19 with 4329 viewsNazemariner

I must of missed something. From where I was stood the pitch exactly as it has been in previous games. Obviously I'm not playing on it, so am not able to offer a conclusive view on its condition, but I don't recall many bobbles or dodgy bounces.

Sour grapes if you ask me!

From where I was sat it also looked as though it was the same for both teams too!! neither of which played a more expansive passing game than the other and neither of which played a more long ball game than the other, so yes sour grapes i think too

Not its normal condition. Bare and muddy in wide areas unusually

However we managed to pass around on it ok !

Well, I've not heard the complaints, but I think if we're putting sour grapes on our pitch, that's not really on, so I can kind of see why they might be complaining about that.

Blaming the pitch is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

I actually commented at the game about how bobbly the pitch was but it was the same for both teams.

Thought the pitch looked in very poor shape

Looking into the sun, the pitch looked very bare and very wet.

The excellent pitch used to be something Town were known for
not any more, it was the same for both teams but, unless there was a lot of rain in the days up to Saturday it looks like it is being over watered.

A trait of old fashioned managers

The thing that seems to spoil our pitch at this time of the year is that giant hot air tent they cover it with for days on end.

Ive often wondered when I watch other championship sides on TV why their grass looks so much greener (especially the ones who either have new stadiums or have recently been in the prem - cardiff, Fulham etc) the other clubs mentioned would obviously have undersoil heating and therefore would have no need for the big tent!

Surely time for Marcus to invest in a new pitch/undersoil heating?

Or some of these beauties they have at Wembley, with a special tent just over the goalmouth area too... I'm sure if they're too expensive, we could sellotape some torches to a few shopping trollies for the same lighting effect?

Pretty sure we have an artificial light doofer. Sometimes see it lighting up the 6 yard box and penalty area during the week.?

I believe we already use these, all football clubs do these days, they are used to help the grass grown in areas where it is particularly badly worn, I flew back into Heathrow on Friday night and you can see them on several of the london clubs pitches most of the time (WHU, Chelsea, Fulham, Brentford)

We could rig up some tightropes across the pitch and then get you out on one of these, hang a few lights off the end of the pole and robert's your father's brother.

Looks like they've got the costume for you already

The reason Town got the tent rather than undersoil heating was that it does less damage to the grass. Or at least that was the case with the technology in the late 90s when they tent was bought.

Re the current pitch, the Reading game and the U23s match against Watford seemed to take their toll. Didn't seem bad before that. Were both those matches played in heavy rain? I forget.

Don't hold your breath of it happening... Don't you remember how she promised to light up the Portman Road pitch if we signed Chopra?

Be careful what you wish for.
