What's your signature dish? 12:58 - Feb 22 with 12000 views | RoyKeanesDog | I know there's a lot of cooking enthusiasts on here so should be a decent thread. What's everybody's favourite dish to cook? I'm certain I make the best tag bol, but I appreciate that it's a pretty easy dish to get the basics right. More creatively I like to cook a tartiflette for people as it usually goes down well (as long as the recipient likes cheese).

What's your signature dish? on 23:50 - Feb 22 by RoyKeanesDog | Onion rings made me laugh more than anything I've ever read on here. |
Can't believe that isn't what the whole thread is about now.

Just seen this. Thanks. But what's wrong with onion rings? Ok they're a bit simple but who needs posh food all the time when the simple things taste nice too? As I said, optional for a roast but I try to include them.

You should try it. Very nice. You want to make the onion rings crispy though. Nice and crunchy with just a taste of the inside texture. Whack abit of gravy on and there you have it 👌🻠

What's your signature dish? on 08:53 - Feb 23 with 2240 views | NewcyBlue | MrsNewcy loved my homemade Chinese crispy beef, sweet chilli sauce with egg fried rice. I do a mean lasagna and my Chilli is outstanding. Use stewing beef in the slow cooker. None of this mince stuff. I do all the cooking, and the dishes. MrsNewcy is a lucky woman!

What's your signature dish? on 17:26 - Feb 22 by JakeITFC | I have to say that your chilli on NYE was one of the very best I've had, and I don't think it was just the booze speaking. |
Thanks. Generally I would say I have historically struggled with chilli but I think I have pretty much nailed it now. I know it's a simple dish but I have brought cottage pie to a new level, would you like the recipe?

Chilli and cottage pie may seem like simple dishes but they can be really delicious. When I was newly married and invited people to dinner I always thought I had to use the most expensive ingredients and spend hours cooking and perfecting the food I was going to serve. There was always a major panic at the end whether it would all come together at the right time. Nowadays I find if you are inviting people over or having a party a big bowl of chilli, a large cottgae pie or a tray of home made lasagne with some salad go down really well. All those meals take no time at all to make and can be warmed up when guests arrive. I find a 'help yourself' meal so much easier than a 'sit down at the table' one. And of course a barbeque in the summer is even easier as the men do the cooking! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

There's sense in that. Nothing worse than you have company/visit friends, and the hosts are busy running about all evening.

What's your signature dish? on 15:46 - Feb 22 by Reuser_is_God | Basic for me as well but my chilli is the bollox. Extra lean mince Chopped tomatoes Kidney beans in sauce Pepper Onion Mushrooms Chillis Chilli powder Cayenne pepper Worcester sauce Served on rice or in wraps, with chilli heatwave doritos. Quantities depend on how many I'm cooking for. Also this is 10x better when done in the slow cooker. |
If you're doing it in the slow cooker, use real bits of meat... Get some chunks of chuck steak in there...

I really think you are. I've never heard of anyone doing it, and I've managed restaurants that have served 700 roast dinners in a day. A quick Google suggests that it is relatively unheard of.

Sounds mental to me, I have never heard of anything so daft.......................................... Not since I first had a roast dinner round my now wife's Mum and Dads house some 30 odd years ago. Initially I was slightly puzzled as to why, with our roast chicken, we had boiled, roast and mashed potato. After being puzzled by that, old ma mother in law entered the room with what looked like a chewing gum grey coloured brain on a plate. Once the brain was cut up and plated everyone proceeded to cover it with curry powder. I now know the brain to be suet pudding and I love it.
