People queueing up at tube stations complaining they are going to get in trouble with the boss because they're late.

If I was their boss I would have been discussing the matter with them last week and how they planned to get to work... turning up on the day, when it's been advertised a week in advance, then moaning is feeble.

What do you expect them to do though? London in rush hour is an awful place even when everything is running. Direct your ire at the unions holding transport in this country to ransom.

This one's over 8 people.

In the long run, they're only speeding up their own demise at the cost of future workers, the selfish sh1ts

Leave earlier
take a different route
arrange to work different hours
take the day off or swap the day

I'm not sure how many jobs would allow the second two but the first two surely come under the banner "common sense".

Unions standing up for their members? That's what they're supposed to do.

Haven't looked at the issue in depth but isn't this about relocation of base from Essex into Earl's Court?

I dare say they can get to work easily in Essex... How do they get to work at Earl's Court? Any parking for them? They have to add to the traffic in central London?

And if they are the early shift where there's no public transport?

How would you feel if your job was moved 20 miles further away from your home?
Will now go & read about the dispute...

Jobs changing locations happens all the time - workers either leave or go with it. These bods are used to calling the shots and holding often poorer people to ransom so they don't think norms apply to them. They're bullying extortionists that use socialism as a cover to ruin decent people's lives.

And anyway, didn't your op say passengers should just leave earlier? Well that goes foe these 8 drivers. Who's needs are more important - those 8 or the 100s of thousands who've been screwed over today?

I forgot about it, went to Farringdon and there was a security alert at Moorgate so the service had pretty much stopped. Walked up to Chancery Lane got on the central line which the strike affected had to wait for a 2nd train as the first one was rammed and changed at Oxford Circus to Baker Street and then walked to Marylebone. It ended up taking me 2:45 to get home, I left at 10 to 4 this afternoon, so it was a long one, the other option was to walk to Marylebone which I was considering. Luckily my other half picked up my boy, but she was due to head out this evening, glad it was cancelled.

I think Ullaa was more referring to the point that if they keep on striking constantly (and it is nearly every few weeks on various lines at the moment) then they will speed up their replacement by automated trains.

And I think he's right.

Live in Suffolk. Couldn't give a fig for your London bubble travel problems. As I drive through Tunstall in the summer, on occasion there is a mighty hold up while ducks cross the road. Were a 3 car tailback once. Awful.

I didn't know anything about it until I got caught up in it today. I have been in Frimley for a couple of days, my train comes in to Waterloo, where normally I would just hop across on the Waterloo and City Line. not today so service, so got caught in the same sort of mayhem on the central line from Tottenham COurt Road as you.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.

It was annoying but I don't see why people get so upset over it.

Heard a few people shouting at people about it but imo what's the point? Are they really going to change the situation?
