No info on it. But thought I'd post anyway as I really really fancy it.

Took 13/2 this morning but 11/3 with SkyBet still available

You're being very naive here. Watch the race race again. It wasn't unlucky. The jockey chose to bury it in amongst horses so it couldn't win today.

I'd be disappointed if they've deliberately had it beat but there's no point dwelling on it I guess

Roll on Cheltenham. And more specifically the RSA Chase

How do you mean 'not trying to win'?

not every horse in every race is trying to win

Indeed

I just couldn't see why today they'd have a reason not for with Ninjago.

It makes punting hard sometimes.

Any big fancies for Cheltenham yet?

You aren't really other than occasionally a horse drifts from like 2/1 to 8/1 like the other day.

That horse absolutely was not going to win.

specialise in one form of racing

either flat, jumps or all weather

it is impossible to get a handle on every horse in training !!!!!!!!!

you will soon get to know what trainers target certain types of races

scattergun gambling, where you bet on anything and everything is a mugs game

At least 50% of horses running everyday aren't out there to win. The handicap system encourages this. Exposed Handicappers only win when they've gone down enough in the weights to be weighted to off a winning mark.

But my point is I rarely do these threads

Even the winner was in someone else's thread where I'd had a bet on

I used to do a preview for the racing and will probably do that again at Cheltenham festival next month and plenty of times on those I said 'got that wrong'.

Rarely do I actually start a thread just for the point of saying about a bet.

Did you watch the race? It was unlucky at the very least and with a clear run would win.

I'm not really bothered if you start the threads or not. I don't know why you're making that point, it's not relevant to my point.

"and with a clear run would win". It's comments like this that worry me. You say you're convinced a horse is going to win - then it doesn't and you give excuses why. What's more worrying for me is then you go onto say it's definitely going to win next time/soon (words to that effect). If it doesn't win next time will you have another excuse lined up?

I don't want to start another racing row and genuinely not having a go at you or anyone else who wants to gamble. Just playing devil's advocate - because there could be people (especially thinking about young or gullible) that follow your bets.

are you comparing a bet at cheltenham, where every horse you bet is trying for its life (metaphorically), to a bet in a monday afternoon wolverhampton handicap, where every horse is definitely not trying to win !!!!!!!???????

I made that point as you make it sound like I say I fancy a horse and start a thread about it all the time. Twice since November and one was on someone else's thread (which won). That's not frequent.

I could back a winner and still say a horse in the race looked like it had promise and will win next time out.

Why is it 'worrying' you? Please don't start with that. I've simply said I fancied a horse which was unlucky/ridden not to win and that on another day would win. If that's what worries you dolly, I suggest that you have me on ignore for Cheltenham week as I'll spend a lot of time on the racing threads on here for that and will be saying similar things.

betfair is a very good guide as to what is expected of the horse

if the exchange price is similar to the industry price, they tend to run ok

I heard a rumour from someone well connected that they are thinking of supplementing MR for the champion hurdle? Has that been reported in the press already or is that new news? I did him at 8/1 antepost too.

Love VVM but unfortunately can't ever get a good price on her with the risk of her being a 'supersub'. If limini is a champion hurdle horse like I expect, I'd play VVM on the day I imagine.

The silly race. Haha. It is definetely different. The French horse that slipped up in the trial should go well in that I think.

Cue card winning would make me smile even if I don't back it. No bet on the race ATM as I had 7/2 Thistlecrack and a 5/1 GC and king George double annoyingly. Though I read he's having another scan just to make sure. 990 into 12 on the exchanges over the last few days too. If he's done his tendon, then there's definetely no chance he's running. Imagine being someone who layed him at 990 and then hearing the rumours. Haha.

Good luck

No I haven't. I haven't made it sound like that at all. I've not said that or even implied it so I don't know where you're getting that from.

I've explained what worries me. "Please don't start with that" - what, putting in a disclaimer?! That's basically what I've done. This is a public forum - if you're allowed to put up bets I'm allowed to warn people (gullible/young) that they don't always work out and to be wary of excuses (next time it will win).

Frankly I'm advocating being responsible and not getting carried away, however persuasive you might be. You should be happy with that and should encourage it/say it yourself. Remember, anyone could be reading these threads.

the supreme is the target for moon racer unless the champion hurdle falls apart, i'm not involved in anything ante post, my king george disaster is still too fresh in the memory.

Well quite.

More to the point, the likes of you and I aren't experts on this sort of thing. Rommers studies the gee gees, so if he couldn't spot it I'd be very wary of copying his bets. Who's to say it will be trying next time (whether or not it's good enough)?

Where in my OP have I told people to bet it? Or said it's definetely going to win?

I fancied it to win and said as much.

You are making this imto way bigger than it is.

I have winners. I have losers. Today was a loser.

I haven't apologised for the horse being beaten. Why would I? I don't force anyone to also back it and made it clear in the first like that I had no inside info on it.

If you are young or gullible and reading this, please don't ever assume that a horse will definetely win. And please gamble responsibly.
