He's so hit and miss. One game he can look terrific; the next pretty poor. At the moment he's nowhere near consistent enough to be considered a Premier League player, either now or in the future.

He really has had the life sucked out of him, the amount of times where he could run the ball forward, open up space and pass the ball through the middle rather than simply taking it and playing the safe pass

He cant be in that midfield just to recycle the ball and not even make forward runs, he isn't there just to defend and get physical, he has got to be offering more attacking threat. Whether MM is instructing him to do that is another matter.

He did get forward plenty last night, just not very effectively. The team's collective inability to pass the ball to each other didn't help.

Oh here we go another player Micks ruined, just like Sears,
or in reality they are just not that consistent, hence why they
both cost very little and were previously playing for Rotherham and Colchester respectively.

He excelled in his first 45 minutes against Barnsley, I guess he didn't know what Mick expected from him at that point.

Based on tonights performance I'd agree but he looked decent against Brentford. The irony is Mccarthy took him off on Saturday...

Sears was nicely consistent, scoring almost 1 in 2 until MM converted him into a winger that went on a 30+ game barren run.

Anderson and Tabb would be stars in the current side.

Grant Ward is a victim of McCarthys 'philosophy'.

Warnock knew how to use him at Rotherham last season.

I haven't rated Ward for a while now. If you think Skuse slows the play down, watch Ward. He's supposed to be an attacking player. He is so slow and constantly goes back with the ball when we're on the counter attack.

Oh indeed Mach, 2 goals in 33 appearances for Rotherham backs that argument up nicely.

Ask Warnock then what he thought of his contribution.

we do have the ability to make every team we play look like world beaters!!

Our skills and control of the ball is awful.

MM does seem to make good players bad ones!

Not true although I loved Paul Anderson and wish we had kept him.

Ward seems to have had talent drummed out of him now he is playing McCarthy football.

FWIW I think he has been playing better in midfield than on the wing.

He failed to get forward on that counter attack with McGoldrick

Unforgivable when you are the fastest player in the team

We get into some decent positions to counter but never seem to bother getting Sears on the pitch who would suit the counter perfectly. Danny Rowe when he gets the chance is another who would fit that role nicely.

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

The same happened to Maitland-Niles, he started off promisingly but slowly became less and less effective.

I believe Wenger has since played him as full back, such has his attacking game regressed?

Which one? The one where Didz tried to cross it to Ward but the defender got their first? Ward got forward plenty and was trying, mostly unsuccessfully, to make things happen. There's plenty to criticise about last night's performance without picking on stuff that didn't really happen.
