World Poetry Day 22:49 - Mar 21 with 2872 views | BelvedereBrunswick | Seeing as there's still over an hour left of World Poetry Day, It would be appropriate to leave this here. When things aren't easy, I often refer to this. Sonnet 141 - William Shakespeare In faith, I do not love thee with mine eyes, For they in thee a thousand errors note; But ’tis my heart that loves what they despise, Who, in despite of view, is pleas’d to dote; Nor are mine ears with thy tongue’s tune delighted; Nor tender feeling, to base touches prone, Nor taste, nor smell, desire to be invited To any sensual feast with thee alone: But my five wits nor my five senses can Dissuade one foolish heart from serving thee, Who leaves unsway’d the likeness of a man, Thy proud heart’s slave and vassal wretch to be: Only my plague thus far I count my gain, That she that makes me sin awards me pain. Quite fitting considering the current state of affairs

I believe it is a tradition on TWTD that once the limerick and haiku are dispensed a clerihew (invented by Bentley apparently, not that I needed to check the form on wikipedia) is necessary: Marcus Evans Was at sixes and sevens His plan for a price increase Saw all season ticket renewals cease

And this be an acrostic: Made in Portman Road A proud story, tradition Righteous fathers and exuberant sons Caught in match day's breath Unable and unwilling to escape it Suffering frigid defeat, tepid draws Equalisers prolonging season's hope Viewed through blue hues Almost reason to come Negating the dire preceeding 89 Soul destroying minutes Week after week Hour on hour Attempts two, Target threatening nil Hoof! Agitation grows... Voiced displeasure from those nestled amongst Empty seats Yards run Open players not played in Upsetting the faithful further Down on the touchline Overseeing the patterns made in his image Negating first Enough is more than enough Tonight irony wins Open mocking of referee, the opposition Or our own Unbelievable to hear at first but Recently, normal Crowds of supporters reduced to shivered shrugs Lose or draw: it matters little Until the sucked out life returns to Portman Road Boys and their dads will not
