It appears that the general consensus on here is that Portman Road looks delapidated and reflects badly on ITFC.
Maybe our belligerent owner is making a stand against the landlord, Ipswich BC? Not so long ago he was forced to increase the rental payments, including arrears. This would have irritated him, as does the ongoing saga with police payments. I believe money rules his mindset with no room for goodwill or fairness.
Is this an opportune moment for the landlord to put pressure on him to maintain the property to the state it was at the start of his tenancy? Or is the cost of maintenance down to the landlord ( highly unlikely.). Either way Ipswich Council are ideally placed, being next to the ground, to carry out regular inspections of their property. Maybe they could send a letter to ME informing him of his responsibilities.
Would Evans be concerned or shamed if photos were published in the media, preferably with his name visible, showing the deterioration of the stadium? Probably not, but worth a punt to highlight the fact that he couldn't care less.

The £80k figure came from when work was done on the Sir Alf Stand a couple of years back. As well as cleaning and painting they were checking joints etc if I remember correctly. Required someone dangling on a harness rather than cherry picker or scaffolding. Had photos but they seem to have disappeared in a site update.

Look at the state of the old ticket offices, plants growing out of the roof as you enter the pitch, top of the Bobby Robson Stand needs cleaning as do the Statues of Sir Bobby and Sir Alf.....sure there is more untidy areas.
Oh I forgot that is where the increase in ticket sales money will be put to use !!!!! |
Its the old ticket office on PR that makes me laugh when it states in the Windows ' no tickets sold from this office' imagine popping into supermarket and it Said on the door ' no groceries sold from this supermarket'. There's Algae growing on the various roofs as well
My company makes an Algae Remover which keeps working for upto a year. I don't know how many bottles they would need or the kind of contractor they'd need to apply it. I wouldn't expect the costs to be that high but as Phil says, every single cost away from the playing side of the club seems to have been cut. They see it as a luxury rather than a necessity. |  |
