Quick question 12:57 - Mar 23 with 950 viewshype313

Why does it take pharmacy dispensers an age to put a packet of tablets in a bag? Seriously 15 minutes I was stood there, I was expecting Dom Joly to jump out and say it was all some elaborate wind up.

Because they can. If they did that quicker, they'd then have to try and look busy in some other way...

I'm pretty sure it's because two people have to check it.
Some places are way quicker than others though.

Two people checking, plus they're likely dispensing for a large chunk of the rest of the community as well.

Sorry to be a bore but once having worked in the profession:

Your item could be dispensed in a minute; however you are in a queue
and bad luck may have placed somebody before you who had a great shopping list of items.

Whilst you are here, do have a little sympathy for the pharmacist
One day I dispensed one prescription a minute for 10 hours non-stop
No (official) tea break, no lunch break and just 2 (brilliant)staff

My GP has about 6 people working in the pharmacy and it takes about 10 minutes to get a prescription.

I know that was then, but it could be again..
