As a serving police officer killed on duty, he'll undoubtedly get a funeral at public expense with a fair amount of ceremony. As the last non-monarch in the UK to have a state funeral died in 1965, I'd suggest the chances of this are zero, no matter how many people are asking for it.

It's an extraordinary situation, a police officer being killed while protecting parliament. I haven't got a problem with it, no skin off my nose.

As he was killed in parliamentary grounds he's entitled to one apparently.

A quick google suggests my definition of state funeral isn't the same as the reality. I thought it meant paid for by the state. Apologies As a side note, what did Margaret thatcher get? That must've been close to a state funeral

Sorry Sparks but it is ridiculous. A funeral with military honours yes but not a state funeral. Never heard anything like it.

She had what I think is called a Ceremonial funeral. I thought it was planned for her to have a state funeral by Blair but she never got it.

Well they should stop pushing for this and let the family decide. It's very disrespectful. Maybe they want a private funeral. [Post edited 23 Mar 2017 19:01]

They can push all they want but it's a non starter. It is so far out of the box it is unreal. Even Margaret and Mountbatten never got one. Edit; Not even The Queen Mother Unless of course they have got a Facebook campaign going. [Post edited 23 Mar 2017 19:04]

Nor did queen Mother or Diana. I'm starting to get a bit narked at the number of MP's lining up to say how they'll bravely continue to do their job. They work in one of the worlds most secure buildings FFS. They're also trying to claim Mr Palmer as ''one of them''. Not so long ago they were calling his like plebs!
