The Duke 11:16 - Mar 24 with 6310 viewscornishnick

I see Nathan Ellington has been voted as Town's worst ever player, in Four Four Two magazine. A bit harsh. Sure, he was sh1te, but now where near as sh1ite at Graham Harvey or Glenn Pennyfathe

Ellington was a dreadful signing, one based on how good he had been five years earlier. In a couple of games he started to get involved, hold the ball up a bit and then he didn't play for weeks.

I saw Pennyfather set Dozzell up for a goal once (equaliser against Hartlepool I the cup) so that alone makes him more useful than Ellington.

Nathan Ellington couldnt even run properly. On the basis that the vast maj of us never saw the infamous Mark Fish performance he is certainly a fair shout. Ingamarsson was pretty bad though. Stern John, Samassi Abou. I also remember one of the young lads who played for us in the last year under Royle, he was a CB, Aidan Davidson? Saw him play at home once and he was dreadful but he was a youth player in over his head whereas Ellington was supposed to be a senior pro.
The worst performance I EVER saw any Ipswich player give was by Bryan Gayle at home to Brighton I think it was. Legendarily bad.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

it was a bad signing based on Jewells previous dealings with him.
He had done nothing for 5 or 6 years to justify signing him.

I think that's fair enough.

Was given a 2 year deal, despite having done buggar all for 2-3 years, and proceeded to do buggar all.

Fish was obviously worse but played a half, and there have been some less than inspiring short term ones too but Ellington was pony and cost us a fair whack in wages and disappeared of to do nothing

Also I tell you another famously bad performance and that was Tarrico's first game for us. At home to Bolton and their winger who went on to play for England absolutely roasted him. We didnt see him for about 6 momths after that.

Gabriel Batistuta.

Absolute waste of money. The guy did absolutely nothing in a Town shirt.

Abbou scored against the Blunts. That makes him ok.

I thought Stern John was ok actually, not great but we needed someone to be a presence up front and occupy defenders. He did that quite well.

When you go through all of Mick's signings we have wasted a huge amount of time & wages on some players.

Not entirely Mick's fault of course, given we have to take a high % of punts given the lack of budget.
