Rocastle has a road named after him around the corner from where I live, and opposite [where "Ipswich House" used to be] is now a "Wright-Phillips House"
Remember one Saturday having worked OT and finishing @ 1pmnot having anything planned for the day I looked at the fixture list and jumped on a train and popped up to Carrow Road to see the up & coming Arsenal team under George Graham
TWTD, see a fixture and decide to go to the game in the top division... the flip side is that this was because football violence was quite a frequent occurrence back then, though I can't remember any trouble at this game.
Simpler times back then wasn't it? Recall going on a whim to watch Wimbledon play at the yellow scum around 88 or 89. Happily a 4-0 win for the Dons! Also recall in 92 after our January game was postponed jumping on a train to watch West Ham v Wrexham in the FA Cup. And then fleeing from a pub full of milwall near Liverpool St.
Not Ipswich related but interesting none the less on 15:26 - Mar 25 by BelvedereBrunswick
Did you mean to say Wright-Phillips?
Why has anything been named after either of those brothers? OP not clear at all.
Not sure why it is Wright-Phillips House, assume that the family lived there and either one or both of the boys were born there.
Boring but true another one was "Dance House" which was named after the head teacher of the local Primary School - the same one that Wright himself credits as first getting him into football.
Can't remember how many distinct different "Houses" were built but all were named by the public based on local "heroes" or "personalities"... none became Housey McHouseface wither
