To be confronted by 3 men/boys dressed all in black would be terrifying enough and to see they had knuckle dusters and knives a horrible thought.
I have always said I would commit murder to save any of my family but whether I would do it would be another thing.
I would have thought the first thing to do, if you had a gun, would be to shoot above their heads so they knew you weren't messing. If they didn't run out after that then maybe shoot at their feet. That would disable them enough to stop them attacking anyone. Then you would be in a position to get the police. Whether in real life I would have the forethought to do all that would be a different matter.
