Absolutely, and that has been the case throughout his career. He is a lot sharper when only on the pitch for twenty minutes or so ( and that isn't just a function of our strikers needing to do a lot of running). |  |

He looked really good at Derby away and changed the game. They were battering us until he came on, but our goal had an invisible force field around it and the ball did everything but cross the line. They could have scored 5 before Half Time, and 3-nil wouldn't have flattered them.
Then Reg came on, got into them a bit, did some nice work bumping into their Centre Backs and generally being a nuisance clattering them and scored.
And then he got bundled out the door. Very odd as he was the only player we had even close to a Murphy replacement. | | | |

I agree that Varney was the only player this season that could successfully play anything like the Murphy role and he could certainly have been useful for the last three months or so.
