My son and I are thinking of taking in a few Bundesliga matches next season, any travel and ticket tips from those on here who have had the experience? We would prefer to travel by train. Are there companies that specialise in package trips or is it best to make all the arrangements myself?

Make arrangements yourself, simples.

Go see Forturna, you'll be well looked after.

fly into Cologne from Stansted via Ryanair or Germanwings, hop on a train and you're in Dusseldorf 45 mins later. Match tickets available from the club shop by the river and the match ticket covers the train journey to the ground. Super atmosphere, you can have a beer whilst watching and some decent eateries back in town after.

If you're interested, I'll provide some hotel details too.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

I went to Berlin in November and watched Hertha Berlin play Mainz at the Olympic Stadium for something like 17 euros. Brought the tickets off the club website in October I think and picked them up from one of the booths outside of the ground about an hour before kick off.

Think there was around 38,000 people on the day (ground holds 75,000 I think), but the atmosphere was brilliant. Non-stop singing for 90 minutes and could take your beer etc up in the stands whilst watching the game.

Can also heartily recommend Dusseldorf as it's a fantastic base for drinking and general signtseeing. Fortuna are the best one to experience, for me. But you can easily get to Cologne, Bochum, Schalke, Monchengladbach, Leverkusen and Dortmund.

Berlin is a great city to drink and sight see but Hertha is your only option, so little chance of multiple games.

Hamburg is a massive night out and you could see Hamburg or the trendy St Pauli.

Organise it yourself, Germany is really easy and great value. However, be careful using the ICE trains as they aren't normally covered by match day tickets. This was catching out loads of fans in Dortmund last week.

PM me if you want any more details. Have been to most cities in Germany for football and speak a bit of the local.
