Most people have some worthwhile furniture and even stuff like crockery, pans and baking tins adds up. Ask three in for quotes and work on the basis that you know there's a good few hundred quids worth and what are they offering.

Get someone to take it away. There are items that could be sold like dishwasher, washing machine etc but I don't have the umph to stick it on gumtree as I don't live that near the property.

Why don't you get a local charity to pick the stuff up. Pretty sure there is one up Chantry that would be grateful and you can get rid and help someone at the same time.

The Clearance people will factor the value of those things in. They will be expecting to make you an offer, or if it's all work for no reward will say "No, ta." If you say "How much do I have to pay you to clear my place" they will take you for a mug. If you say "Do you want to give me a quote, there's a decent dishwasher and washing machine." you'll get interest. I think you'll be surprised and you'll make one or two hundred quid. But only if you act like you're expecting something.
