I cant see them going for Zac this time around. If the Tories want to win that seat then they need another candidate as he is tarnished.

After the mayoral contest, he resigned from the Conservative Party to trigger a by-election in Richmond on the 3rd runway at Heathrow issue. The Libdems came along, and instead of letting the 3rd runway be the single issue, they campaigned on Brexit (Richmond was/is very strongly Remain).
He lost, but hard to know what damage the London Mayor's Campaign did to him personally.

He had always said that he would resign over the 3rd runway issue, so in that sense, he stood by his word (unlike Cameron, May, Johnson who had all clearly and unequivocally said that the 3rd runway was not going to go ahead. Hence the old joke, how can you tell when politicians lie? Their lips move).
