TWTD young people 09:40 - Apr 25 with 2350 views | bluelagos | Got some music files, some are MP3 and some WMA. Which ones should I be keeping / trying to stick on my phone? Can you convert files from one to the other? Cheers

TWTD young people on 09:47 - Apr 25 with 2325 views | StuartBrett8 | MP3 files take us less memory than Wav, and also slightly reduce quality.. depends how much space you want to use on your phone.

TWTD young people on 09:55 - Apr 25 with 2302 views | JohnWarksTash | Not wishing to be a pedant by WMA isn't WAV....WMA is windows attempt at mp3 and as such as comparable in size to mp3. WAV files tend to be uncompressed and are large. You can convert all audio files if you wish but to be honest most music players can play either so I would just keep the music you want and ignore the file types. :)

TWTD young people on 09:59 - Apr 25 with 2288 views | GlasgowBlue | WAV is near CD quality with no compression but they will take yp more of your memory. So long as you have MP3's @ 320kbps or AAC files at 256kbps then you should notice too mu h difference on a phone with average earphones. If you want to convert WAV to MP3 to make them smaller, you can do that on itunes or you can get Switch Sound File converter, which you have to pay for. edit. I've just noticed you asked young people you cheeky sod. [Post edited 25 Apr 2017 9:59]

You should be able to find a freeware audio converter quite easily http://www.real.com/resources/convert-wma-to-mp3/

Bought one, connected it to the laptop - and an internal one popped out. Never knew it was there.. Genuine offer - if anyone wants one. BL

Whilst my numptyness has been laid bare today, I do in fact need the one I just bought, as the internal one only reads half of my CDs. So maybe I'm not as much of an idiot as first appears to be the case. :-)

Unless half of your cd's are quite old and won't burn onto a computer. Had that with a couple of old Aerosmith CD'S which had DRM to stop them being copied. [Post edited 25 Apr 2017 16:22]

Bit of a long story - but basically all my CDs went in storage in 2001 when I went to Nigeria. Not been played since as I had all my music on a laptop and back up MP3 player. Laptop knicked at Monrovia airport (in unlocked luggage) and MP3 from Joberg airport (in unlocked luggage) I now put nothing of value in unlocked luggage :-( I might be asking for recommendations for post 2001 CDs / downloads at some point.

Just listening to Cafe del mar '98 from Human Traffic. Realised this is older than Rommers. I feel old.

Christ, you are getting old. Bit of Viagra will sort that out. Although I am not too sure if Callis will be up for that.... Good luck though.
