I'm encouraged by the comments from McG 20:34 - Apr 27 with 1641 viewsStNeotsBlue

He sounds like he's committed to the cause and sees a decent future at Town. He's the best footballer we've owned for a good few years now and to hear him sounding positive about things makes me happy.

I fully appreciate that the comments are part of his job and he is only going to say his happy thoughts in public, but it is encouraging.

The fact McG is looking to extend his contract is a positive isn't it?

He is the player we should be looking to build the team around.

Made me smile hearing him saying he wants to extend his contract

Some stuff he is told to say but that wouldn't have been one of them. Nice to hear

it is good news although the cynic in me thinks the positivity will last right up until his next injury lay-off. What's he averaging for us, 20 starts a season?

To be fair, he's been more regular this season has he not?

In fairness the fact we've seen far more sh1t might account for that!

I have him on 5 goals 30 apps this season?

5 goals from 27 last season so not that much higher! Just felt more.

Behave. He's the best footballer we've had on the books for years . He's guilty of trying to do too much as he says in the articles, but what we desperately need is a midfielder who will push on when McG drops back. Our formation is too rigid at the moment be it 4 4 2, 3 5 2 or whatever, if McG comes deep we need players to have the freedom and gumption to attack the space he has created behind him.
