I've seen Bowie a couple of times and although I am a massive fan I was disappointed. I saw him at MK and our driver (my mate Dave) got lost and had my car keys. We ended up with a car with no keys, next to us was a load of lads that had keys but no car as it had been nicked. We finally got the RAC to bust the ignition lock in the car so we could start it with a screwdriver. Trouble was we were all on acid. My mate Gary tried to drive home but had to stop at the first services as nothing was making any sense. We had a row and made Gary drive home. Dave (the man with my keys) got home two days later.
I loved Bowie, and saw him twice.first on the Ziggy Stardust tour in Norwich, and then on the Glass Spider tour in Cardiff. Unfortunately, he just wasn't very good live. I was reasonably sober and drug free both times.
My best live acts Dr. Feelgood The Boss Little Feat
Honourable mentions Jackson Browne Desmond Dekker and the Aces Prince
The Alarm ( Mike Peters) The Cure Never saw the Smiths but saw Morrissey at Finsbury park with Madness so will not count that one. Same reason cannot count the Clash saw Paul, Joe and Mick in diff bands but never as a whole with Topper.
In July going to see The Undertones for the first time, best ever pop song Teenage kicks, so I hope they play it more than once.
I was at Finsbury Park, felt sorry for Morrissey that day.

Damn, yes The Undertones were great live, I saw them in 1979. Get Over You is a better song than Teenage Kicks inmho.
Yep. I saw the stones in 1990 and remember thinking they're about to turn 50, How good must it have been to see them in their pomp in a small venue. Could not have imagined they would be touring 25 years after that. I'm gonna put Exile on Main St on now.
I saw David Bowie at Milton Keynes, the Let's Dance tour around 1982, supported by The Beat - was that the one? Wasn't impressed at all but The Beat were good, "Stand down Margaret, stand down please..."
I was at that one and I was very disappointed. The one I was talking about though was the "final last tour". It was a short set and was a let down.
As it happens I saw Dave Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall and Dave came on and done See Emily Play and Comfortabley Numb. It was apparently his last ever UK performance.
“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.”
Boris Johnson canvassing in Henley, 2005.
Never saw you there If I remember loads of skinheads around that day, he came on with a Union Jack and had a few cans thrown on stage
as I remember it, first couple of bands got low level stick, calmed down for ian dury and then moz got loads of cans, understandably he got hump and cut his set short.
Never got to see Joy Division but, have see New Order over 20 times including a very early gig at Bedford Boys Club in '81. Saw Ramones in '86 and have also seen Jackson Browne at least once on every European tour since '84.
Saw Joy division in Sheffield cant remrmber year but they supported Buzzcocks
Green Day are awesome live totally amazing
Gary Numan is still brilliant live. As a performer he is second to none
Barenaked Ladies are very good as well.
Midge Ure is probably the best live act I've seen solo. Ultravox stuff as well as his own stuff
India Electric Co are fantastic musically live such musicians
I saw thousand yard stare play in some sh1tty dive in Aldershot. Did my first stage dive, got it wrong, the crowd parted like the red sea and I hit the deck.

It was amazing. On another note I feel in a complete musical rut at the moment. Since my first child was born I've hardly been to any gigs or bought any newmusic. I can't even crank up the sounds really at home. I listen to 6 music when I'm cooking and that's about it. I need to get back into it. It feels a bit like the football at the moment. All a bit meh.

Ahh the old stage dive. If they catch you, then you get robbed blind.

I stick on the tunes whenever the missus goes out. Get the record player cranked on.
I get my new music from 6 and a couple of mates, and a couple of people here.
Which reminds me, dubbers if you're about, I still haven't got round to that link, I'm not being rude.
Saw them last in scumland in November, they were superb. All 5 of them harmonizing at some points, just lovely. Just a consistently brilliant band, going for 25+ years, never released a duff album, never jumped on a musical bandwagon(esque) and changed their sound, never split up and reformed, no egos or rock star bitchiness. 3 brilliant songwriters who divide their albums (and Gigs) up democratically so all of their tunesmiths get equal songs.
Plus, I can play most of it. When I got to uni in 97 and got on the internet I found this http://zenandjuice.com/music/teenage_fanclub/chords/ Pre-internet if you wanted guitar chords you had to buy the sheet music book which cost about the same as the CD to buy and only biggish albums had music books released with them. I was able to go up to the Uni Computer room and print off the chords to any song I wanted of theirs and take it back and learn it. I taught myself guitar through playing Teenage Fanclub stuff it would be fair to say. If I was in the audience and Norman broke a finger, I could come onstage and save the day.
