Football ......the Labour party manifesto. on 08:17 - May 12 with 1551 views | Superfrans | It's the strange thing about the Labour manifesto and the media response to it. You could call it dog whistle politics, or you could call it a populist manifesto... deregulating the trains - yes please. investment in NHS - yes please. abolish tuition fees - yes please. put power back into the hands of football fans - yes please. renationalising Royal Mail - yes please. higher taxes for high earners, lower taxes for low earners - yes please.

No doubt the people in the media are all in employers private health schemes, have drivers to fetch & carry & are registerd as non domicile for tax purposes, have no interst in football as they are in the polo club?

It's more about the media owners and owners of business. I think of it like this: Who wouldn't want fans on football club boards? The club owners. Who wouldn't want trains deregulated? The franchise owners. Who wouldn't want an increase in the minimum wage? Business owners. Who wouldn't want an increase in tax for high earners? High earners. All of these people tend to own (or have greater access to) the mechanisms for communication, rather than those who would most directly benefit. This election is increasingly looking like a stitch-up by business, for business, and not in the interests of the ordinary man on the street, annual income under £30,000-40,000 pa, relies on the public health system, the public education system etc.

I agree. I was also wondering how mnay Footballers, Managers, Coaches etc. do not pay tax in the UK? I would imagine all non UK footballers have a business outside the UK and get paid a relatively low salary in the UK from their non UK company. Maybe even MM has a Personal Services Compay registered in Eire- who knows?

Here's something to think about as well, a competent Labour leader would have destroyed both Cameron and May. I reckon Jezza's in on this.
