Huddersfield are the complete opposite to us aren't they 07:42 - May 18 with 6105 viewstextbackup

Young intelligent exciting manager
An owner with an actual idea of what he's doing
A real togetherness within the club

Compare that to the mess ITFC are in, it really ia Million miles away

And I think I saw their budget was the same as Rotherham this season.

We’ll be good again... one day

£199 for a season ticket for 17/18 too. Over 17,500 sold.

I reckon we should sack the manager every time we lose a game

No disrespect to Huddersfield but they should never in a million years have double the number of season ticket holders than us.

The board and supporters trust should be embarrassed that Evans is simply allowed to do whatever he wants with no accountability.

We know we could get 20k+ season ticket holders with imaginative pricing. £300 adult and £25 for under 18s anywhere in the ground for example, ideally even cheaper. We are stumbling blindly to league one and even lower crowds and Evans couldn't care less. It's a shambles.

They've had the same chairman for a number of years and in the Championship they've mostly been lower midtable.

He took a punt on Wagner and it's worked out. This appears to be a case of the manager making the chairman look better than he is.

Fair play to him taking that chance but Mick made Evans look better than he is as a owner in the first 3 years.

Hmm not sure on the Rotherham budget, transfer fees of £3.5million, and 5 Loans, four of which are top 6 premier league teams.

Still not that should get in the way of plucky little Huddersfield myth.

Not sure if that link works as I am a bit of a Luddite but their crowds were dwindling and the owner decided to do something about it. Extra £2m of tv money was given to Champ clubs a few years ago and he has used this to allow cheaper tickets. Agreed the Wagner appointment has had a huge impact.

They remind me of us under Burley and Sheepshanks before we got promoted to the promised land. A manager that encourages attractive, attacking football and a chairman that is a supporter, but engages with the club's fans. Huddersfield, like Ipswich were, are one big family all pulling in the same direction to achieve that ultimate goal - excuse the pun!

They are, chiefly because they have a vision of what they want to achieve. Evans, despite the fluff about a plan, had promotion and money as the only real objective when he bought the club. Now, i don't think even he knows what he wants.

That said, having one good season in this division is one thing but, if they don't go up, then sustaining that without spending a lot of money is a great deal harder.

That's a manager who got us relegated the season after and a chairman who overspent as he thought we'd made it big time?

The ultimate own goal. Excuse the pun!

Think you will find Wagner took a punt on Huddersfield. He obviously liked what the chairman told him. This is the reason we are stuck with McCarthy and no ambitious manager would come anywhere near us.

Although if Huddersfield lose to Reading he will be on the first train to Watford.

They are doing really well, if they lose to Reading though what happens next.

Sustaining competing in this division without a big budget is bloody difficult, only us and Brentford have half done it over last 3-4 years.

I hope they do get up, and think what they have done is fantastic - but if they don't, and Wagner follows Webber their DoF out the door then they could easily struggle

Indeed, if they don't go up they are essentially where we were two years ago, and probably without a manager (as well as their key loan players), their sporting director already having moved on. They've had a good year and a half but maintaining it in this division will be very tough whatever happens.

Even if they don't go up , they are in a better position than us , with a positivity around the club that we have completely lost .

Considering all his many contacts in the game MM doesn't seem to be able to attract the sort of player that will move us forward , the whole thing feels like a damage limitation exercise .

2 players saved us from being in real trouble last season , one won't be here and there's a fair chance we might lose the other as well .

How long do we need to find a goalscorer to give us some sort of bite up front

I was pleased Huddersfield went through.
They were better at PR than Sheff Wed.

I enjoyed the coomment from their manager before the penealties when he said they would be OK because thay had Germans to take penalties then laughed = good sense of humour.

I was thinking of where we were in the summer of 2015. As we've seen, it doesn't take long for the mood to change significantly, had by around the middle of 2015/16. Financially they're probably less well off than us, depending on how much their owner is putting in. Certainly their turnover will be lower than ours.

And if Huddersfield do go up it shows what can be done by a modest club with a unified sense of purpose between club and fans combining ambition with passion.

They are the complete antithesis of moribund Ipswich Town who are sleepwalking into League One.

Yet in 2014-15, had we gone up, then one could have said the same about us. We weren't moribund that season.

Winning football matches makes an enormous difference to perception.

Ipswich Town needs a radical overahul both in terms of how we play the game and engage with fans.

It's precisely what Huddersfield have done, crowds have soared and the strategy might just pay off.

We didn't go up in 2014-15 because we were not good enough and relied far too much on one player.

Nothing special was building which is why we have fallen back so quickly.

They've done very well, but the budget was higher than ours, they spent several million on their German defenders for example.

Taking nothing away from them however, would be refreshing to see them in the PL.

They get double the number of season ticket holders because they play good football...it ain't rocket science. Last night they played with pace, effort and technique...all of which we mostly lack.
