Based on everything we know so far about target, methods and the fact the attacker gratuitously killed himself in the process, I'm guessing it was an IS-inspired radicalised islamist.
I'm not going to get into another discussion about where IS came from, as I know we differ on that topic. |  |

I fully agree with you on the social media thing but I was watching the news when it broke, you can't ignore it can you. I think the rolling news the day after is wrong though. When The IRA bombed No 10s garden with mortar shells during a cabinet meeting it didn't have such a media clamour. |
you are right about media coverage with the IRA pipebomb - but we didnt have the depth of coverage we do now.
this incident aside : - we live in "the information age"
This is an era whereby the news is rammed down our throat 24x7 - social media is everwhere. Twitter, facebook, instagram and snapchat are an integral part of our society
what we're into now is "information overload" - too much information, disinformation.
the politics dont help. ive got every f***r on my facebook telling me to vote for someone or other.
im at the stage whereby i need to turn it off, otherwise ill have a blooming breakdown.
funily enough i had a week out a couple of months back. i restricted myself to no tv, no news channels, no facebook or even twtd. i felt much much better. | |

I'm also not looking to get into a discussion about the origins of IS. I don't think it's a secret that Saudi Arabia supports this ideology any more than it's a secret that 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were also Saudi nationals. | |
