Can be flipping wonderful. Especially when you have the power to dish all the work out to other people.

So 'not working from home' then?

Or to put it more diplomatically, delegating from home

Aside from delegating, all I need to do is monitor for critical issues that cannot be handled by anyone else. A everyone else is smarter than me, this should not be too arduous. Certainly not so arduous that I cannot manage it from a sunbed in the back garden and with a refreshing drink.

Of course, not even having to pretend you're doing anything is even better.

Interesting point, working from home, remotely, all bar one etc. is fine but if you have management responsibility, visibility is pretty key in my experience.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Luckily for me, keeping a high profile lost its importance years ago.

Yesterday I had to work in the office. Routine: Wake up at 5am, get ready, 40min commute, start shift at 6.30am.

Today I'm working at home. Routine: Wake up at 6.20am. Put computer on bed and turn on. Start shift at 6.30am.

Good old Fridays.

I can't do it, worked from home a few years back.

I wondered what would happen if I started at 10, finished at 4, and took an hour 30 for lunch. Nothing happened immediately at first, and I thought I'd nailed this working malarkey.

After 6 months, tho, matters gradually caught up with me, my superiors gently suggested I move on, and I did.

Biggest regret was that I'd almost finished Pornhub too.

Got to keep the work going Fungy, they will cotton on in the end. The key is to get your numbers up on normal days, make the most of the time that you would otherwise spend commuting, then on a day like today you can happily abuse it knowing that you will still appear to be one of their most productive workers.
