Just cleared a border next to a tall wall in the garden. Faces West. Gets decent sunshine till midday. Soil looks a bit ropey, but I'm not a soil expert. Have compost and prepared to use it. Also got canes. I'd quite like something that grows quickly, climbs, flowers, is good for the bees, and produces something edible. Answers before 10 please when I will go to the Garden Centre. Best answer will be planted.

Yeah, improving the soil before you plant anything is crucial.
Too late once something is in and has got its roots comfy.
Right, good point. I've got some herbs that went in recently that are fighting for their lives in an area that was presumably once weed-killered intensively.

Loinicera ' henryi' which an evergreen climbing honeysuckle. Easy to grow, grows quite fast, fragrant, flowers, good for inscects and just cut it back if it gets out of hand without the need to get too deeply into pruning mysticism.
Trachelospermum jasminoides which is again, an evergreen climber. Lovely little white flowers and wonderful fragrance. We've got one outside our back door on the patio and when its in flower fills the house with scent.

You could also stick some raspberry canes in, but they will take a year before getting any fruit on them.

Also, maybe you could get some sunflower seedlings as they grow tall and the bees will go nuts for them.
Benters flower suggestions are all good too - but bear in mind you can spend a lot of money to fill that space!

Think we've got some sunflowers and loads of other stuff on the go inside that are looking for a home outside, u cant move without tripping over plants in here. My partner works at a community garden so is the expert on this but is away on holiday. I just wanted to put in something of my own having done all the hard work.

Rudbeckia deamii, Salvia East Friesland, Clematis armandii, Cosmos, Calendula, Depends which garden centre you are visiting, but ask for advice when you are there, they should be able to give you a helpiing hand. Are you local to Ipswich?
We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub.
