Black Cats After Currie

Sunderland are the latest club being linked with a move for Town winger Darren Currie. Over the weekend news broke of Coventry's interest in the 31-year-old.

With Currie out of contract at the end of the season, the Blues are likely to accept what they see as a reasonably bid, probably something around the £250,000 they paid Brighton in 2004.

Meanwhile, reports in Ireland claim the Blues have missed out on signing Irish U21 international Stephen Ward from Eircom League club Bohemians. The Dubliner has instead agreed to join Norwegian side Fredrikstad for a fee of €250,000 (£170,000).

Town were first reported to be interested in the highly-rated 21-year-old back in March when Joe Royle went to watch the Irish U21s in action against Sweden, Ward scoring in a 1-0 win.
