Ward Set to Sign?

Town could be on the verge of signing Bohemians frontman Stephen Ward after the Irish U21 changed his mind about a move to Norwegian club Fredrikstad. The Irish Eircom League side have put a €250,000 (£170,000) price-tag on the highly rated 21-year-old.

Ward was first linked with a move to Town in March when former manager Joe Royle watched the Irish U21s in action against Sweden. Although Ward scored the game's only goal, Royle denied that the striker was the reason for his trip.

However, in recent days it has emerged that the Blues have been in competition with Fredrikstad for Ward's signature with the Norwegians the apparent favourites. However, reports in Norway say Ward has turned down the move to Scandinavia, leaving the door open for a move to Portman Road.

With Sam Parkin looking to be on his way to either Preston or Luton it would be no surprise if Jim Magilton was looking for another striker.

Ward, who can also play in midfield, joined Bohemians from Portmarnock's U17 side in 2003 and has won two Republic of Ireland U21 caps.
