Town have denied the earlier newspaper report claiming Shane Supple is on his way out of Portman Road. The keeper was left out of the 16 at Peterborough, prompting speculation that the club could be ready to sell him.

Supple told the club site he sprained his wrist earlier in the week: "It's a load of rubbish. I hurt my wrist in training on Monday and it was always going to be a risk being involved.

"The physio staff and manager decided I might aggravate it if I played, so decided not to take that risk.

"I'm obviously disappointed not to have played against Hull, just as Lewis was when he was on the bench.

"You need competition for places in every position and I've got to work hard and try and win my place back. That's all I am concerned with."

Boss Jim Magilton concurred: "Shane has a wrist injury and we weren't happy with him being involved against Peterborough in case he aggravated it. It's as simple as that."
