Preston North End boss Paul Simpson says he is becoming frustrated with Town striker Sam Parkin. The former Swindon man has been weighing-up whether to join the Lilywhites or Luton, the Blues having accepted £300,000 from both clubs.

Simpson said: "We are still waiting and it's a bit disappointing. I know the lad Lupoli from Arsenal has gone to Derby - he was a player we wanted.

"It is common knowledge we want to sign Sam Parkin and we are still waiting for him to decide what he wants to do.

"I think there are other clubs interested and really we have just got to wait. As much as I want him in as soon as possible, we just have to be patient.

"There has been no explanation, apart from the fact he just wants to make sure he has looked at all his options and make sure it is the right thing.

"We are also looking at a couple of other players as well - one was playing yesterday - and we are just waiting for answers back to see whether they are the right ones for us.

"I would like to think they will be in as soon as possible.

"It's a little bit frustrating and you can get a little bit screwed up if you allow yourself to. We have just got to be patient."

Town boss Jim Magilton will be watching the situation carefully with a striker, who TWTD believes is Bohemians Irish U21 international frontman Stephen Ward, amongst his targets before the transfer window closes next Thursday. Magilton has also been looking for a central defender throughout the summer.

French trialist Sylvain Legwinski, a central midfielder, played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Spurs at Portman Road yesterday with Bury Town defender Ian Miller also involved.

Magilton has ruled out a move for wantaway Colchester utility player Greg Halford and says he is yet to receive an offer for midfielder Darren Currie.
