Boss Jim Magilton says he is keen to keep Charlton midfielder Simon Walton at Portman Road for longer than his current one-month loan. The Town manager says he will talk to Iain Dowie regarding extending his spell.

Magilton said: "He has fitted in extremely well and we would like to keep him as long as possible, although we would probably only be allowed the extra couple of months."

Charlton stated that Walton's loan would not be extended beyond the first month when the former Leeds man joined the Blues, so Magilton may face a battle to keep the 18-year-old.

If Walton isn't allowed to remain at Portman Road, Sylvain Legwinski could be the man to take his place in the side. Legwinski is away from the club considering the offer made to him by Town at the end of his trial last week.

Magilton says he may speak to Coventry manager Micky Adams for a second time regarding striker Dele Adebola. The former Crewe man's name came up when Adams asked about a Town player, possibly Darren Currie who was recently linked with the Sky Blues

Magilton says he is not keen to see any more of his players leave, but is not ruling out some more wheeling and dealing if it improves the overall make up of his squad.

Town are due to trial 16-year-old midfielder Ross Coombes. The youngster currently plays for Ivybridge Town in the Devon League and scored in a 9-0 away win at Teignmouth over the weekend.
