Former Blue Nicky Forster says that his old Reading colleague Phil Parkinson persuaded him to leave Town for Hull City. Forster has signed a two-year deal at the KC Stadium after the clubs agreed a fee of £250,000.

Forster only discovered that there was a possibility of a move when he received a phone call while at Town's training ground on Wednesday lunchtime: "I was called by a friend to say that there was a piece in the Hull Daily Mail about me.

"So I went to ask Jim Magilton what the situation was and he confirmed that there had been an offer from Hull City and asked me what my thoughts were.

"I said to him that I'd like the opportunity to speak to Phil Parkinson and we took it from there.

"Phil convinced me that this club is going forward and that it's the right move for me.

"I know Phil from our days together at Reading and have seen him develop into a top young manager.

"Obviously I was at Ipswich and he was with Colchester, which wasn't far away, so I got to see a lot of the press coverage that they were getting.

"Phil made a real name for himself at Colchester and him being here was a big factor for me."

Forster says he is in in good form despite his fitness problems while with the Blues: "I had one or two injuries but I feel very sharp at the moment and all I want to do is score goals. I'm and out-and-out scorer who's hungry for goals and hopefully I can bring that to Hull City."
