Former Blue Thomas Gaards¢e says his career could be ended by the groin injury which has kept him on the sidelines since February. Gaards¢e left the Blues for West Brom in July 2003 for a fee of £500,000.

Gaards¢e, 26, says he will be forced to make a decision on his future soon: "I am at a stage right now where in a couple of weeks' time we will decide whether there is any point to continue with the rehab training or if I should stop my career at the top level.

"In case there is any hope, I will continue to train and in case I get fully fit, it will be an advantage with a new manager."

The Danish international joined the Blues from AaB Aalborg in August 2001 for an initial fee of £1 million.
